""I want to become a police officer,"" says Advik*, who is six years old. He lives in a small, cramped room in a slum community. His house is poorly built, with leaks in the roof whenever it rains. The streets are noisy, chaotic, and polluted. Advik's father works as a carpenter, but work is not always available. And when it is, the pay is barely enough to cover the family's basic needs. One day, a neighbour told his mother about Vision Rescue’s Beacon Learning Center (BLC). At first, she didn’t understand how education could change anything, as she had never been to school herself beyond the 4th grade. However, she decided to enroll Advik in BLC in June 2022. His enthusiasm for learning gave Pooja hope that this could be their chance to break free from the cycle of poverty. Soon after, Advik’s younger sister also joined the BLC. Seeing them both happy and eager to learn gave his mother a sense of relief. Her youngest will soon join BLC in the coming year. His mother also took a step towards her own growth. She enrolled in Vision Rescue's vocational tailoring course to learn new skills and earn extra income to support her children. Thank you, dear donors, for helping Advik, his family, and others like them rise above their circumstances. ___________ To partner with us, click https://lnkd.in/gps8bpsD #VisionRescue #ReachingoutwithLove #EducationForAll #DreamsComeTrue

Did You Know? More than 95% of young adults exiting the foster care system and 15% of young adults raised in single-parent households will live in poverty. Individuals who live in poverty are 200% more likely to be arrested for a crime, 400% more likely to have a child out of wedlock, 350% more likely to experience severe mental health problems, and 179% more likely to commit suicide. By providing the pathway to train and start a new career, we give young adults the opportunity to break through the poverty ceiling and earn an income in a field they enjoy - which will allow them to become financially independent.

Lighthouse Vocational Services is on a mission to promote growth, opportunity, and hope for people with disabilities. To fulfill this mission, the organization provides high-quality, person-centered programming including vocational services, educational enrichment, and community integration experiences. One individual suffered a debilitating concussion and had more than five years of recovery before joining Lighthouse. Staff transported him to job assessments, provided training, evaluated his skills, and sought out jobs that would fit his unique abilities. After trying a few places, Lighthouse staff secured a job placement at a cabinetry business, where he is currently employed and is a valuable part of their team. "We are so thankful for High Foundation’s support,” said Christina Cruz, Director of Office Administration. “Transportation to work sites is one of the greatest needs of our individuals and High Foundation’s funding of a quality vehicle for this purpose helps us fulfill our mission every day, getting our people to their jobs in safety and comfort.” We are proud to partner with Lighthouse Vocational Services as they empower their participants to achieve their dreams. #highfoundation #highcompanies #philanthropy #nonprofit #givingback #education #healthservices #humanservices #artsandculture #historicpreservation #environment #sustainability #socialenterprise #socialgood #dogood #giveback #businessforgood #community #lancasterpa #cityoflancaster #lancastercounty #lancastercity #lancastercountypa #centralpa

Why are we pouring government funding and charity money into 'fixing' things all the time when the money would be better spent preventing it in the first place? There would also be less damage to children who are already profoundly traumatised. Our children have a birth right to meaningful contact so let's invest in them not being denied it in the first place. As a foster carer I watch it happen and not for the right reasons, it's either too much hassle for overstretched social workers to arrange it, or another foster carer is blocking it - which is not in their job remit (too much trouble, 'upsets' the children). Or it's let slide for so long every one conveinetly forgets about it - except the children. FosterWiki have a adenda for reform, with solutions and evidence, data, stats and feedback from the biggest independent foster carer's survey ever, serious feedback from fostering's frontline. Please lets work togther, lets collaborate on prevention. The street should never be their home! Imagine a world where children—the hope of our future—spend their days on the streets, exposed to danger, hopelessness, and the crushing weight of their circumstances. For many children in our communities, this is their painful reality. They are pushed out of schools, ignored by society, and trapped in a cycle of poverty with little chance to escape. At Nurture Roots Foundation, we believe in something powerful: **Every child deserves equal access to education, regardless of their background or circumstances.** The Streets Should Never Be Their Home! No child should have to grow up in fear, uncertainty, or neglect. The streets can be perilous, and far too many children find themselves caught in a cycle of violence, exploitation, and missed opportunities. The sad truth? Without intervention, many of these children face a lifetime of hardship. But we are here to offer them something they can't get on their own—a safe place to call home, the opportunity to learn, and a community that cares. Together, we can make a difference. Let's unite to lift these kids off the streets. Visit our website to learn more about our initiatives and how you can help. https://lnkd.in/dVgeyyp3

It’s been a long time coming!! The long-overdue reform in children’s social care is here—and we welcome it with open arms. The new regulations will raise the standards, tackle profiteering, and focus on early intervention to truly transform the lives of vulnerable children. At Storyy Group, we embraced OFSTED registration before it was mandatory, because we believe that quality care should never be optional. As our co-founder Brian Murphy often says, “We need to raise the standards in this sector to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.” These changes mark a pivotal moment for children’s social care. The focus on transparency, accountability, and safeguarding aligns perfectly with our mission: “To not stop until every young person in the United Kingdom has access to a loving home, quality care, emotional support and the tools needed to write their own storyy.” We’re proud to be part of a movement that does things the right way, and we’re looking forward to helping others do the same in 2025. #SocialCareReform #OFSTED #ProjectHomes #CareStandards #ChildrensHomes #SocialImpact

Big Announcement LinkedIn Friends~ I have spent the last couple of years at Point Source Youth going deep on how we, across all of our systems and communities, can put power and resources directly into young people’s hands, and I want to share that I am moving on from my position at the end of this week. It is bittersweet to transition from a team I love so much, but I'm excited to reignite ABC Training & Consulting while keeping an eye out for my next big project! I am excited to share my skills and knowledge of youth and homelessness best practices, training and facilitation, quality improvement, strategy development and social justice work, in collaboration with rad folks anywhere and everywhere. I am incredibly proud of the Direct Cash Transfers as Prevention intervention and the communities piloting it. This model is not just about meeting young people with exactly what they need, it is not just about the power that cash represents - it is also about scaling a community-ownership model of resourcing all of the brilliant service providers to do their jobs even better. It is about trusting service providers the way we are asking them to trust young people. It is about restoring, healing, and funding community in young people’s lives. I am also so incredibly humbled and proud of all the youth consultants I have gotten to work with, along with my scheming partners Rocio Evelin Carranza Jacinto, MPH, Julia Terry (they/themme), Milo and so many others. I am so honored to have worked and learned with you, for the ways you have advocated, led, taught, learned, and pushed all of us to center humans first. Anjala Huff, you really are a real one, and you have taught me how to be a mover and shaker while never losing sight of what is most important. Yall are the leaders we need right now, and I have learned so much from you <3 I want systems, organizations, and communities to do right by young people, no matter what - because that is what they deserve. That work is happening all over the place. Are you doing it? Have a cool project you want to chat about? Hit me up at my new email ashley@barnescocke.com or check out my website: https://lnkd.in/gz99eeuZ
