This World Tourism Day, we turn our attention to Georgia, a country where heritage plays a pivotal role in shaping its identity. As the global tourism community gathers in Tbilisi, the discussion centres on “Tourism and Peace”. It explores how tourism can foster peace and understanding between nations and cultures, and support reconciliation processes. At the heart of this conversation lies the preservation of our world’s shared history — from ancient landmarks to cultural traditions that transcend borders. Georgia, a cradle of diverse heritage sites such as the UNESCO-listed Mtskheta, illustrates how protecting these treasures is vital to fostering unity and peace. By preserving historical landmarks and safeguarding traditions, tourism not only boosts local economies but also strengthens global ties, helping bridge gaps between cultures. As we celebrate this special day, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting these shared legacies. It is through responsible tourism and heritage preservation that we can create a more peaceful and connected world. #Georgia #WTD24 #ourheritagehomes
