This information is instrumental in reaching an accurate diagnosis and planning the most effective treatment strategy. Deep vein thrombosis of the common femoral vein, seen with the probe in a transversal position. Deep venous thrombosis(DVT) occurs when a blood clot forms in a deep vein. DVT usually presents with unilateral extremity swelling, warmth, pain, and erythema. If not managed properly, these thrombi can embolize, causing further complications. Thrombosis risk factors include vascular endothelial injury, venous stasis, and hypercoagulability states. Venogram remains the "gold standard" for diagnosis of DVT.
