Green Hydrogen: Paving the Path to India’s Energy Future By Dr. Bhawani Singh Rathore, Renewable Energy Coach & Consultant India is moving swiftly towards clean energy goals, and green hydrogen is at the forefront. Produced through renewable-powered electrolysis, green hydrogen is a zero-carbon fuel with immense potential for decarbonizing industries, transportation, and power. Current Costs Green hydrogen currently costs $4–$6/kg, compared to grey hydrogen at $1–$2/kg. However, by 2030, costs are expected to drop to $1–$2/kg due to cheaper renewable energy (₹2.5-₹3/kWh) and advancements in electrolyzer technology. Challenges High Setup Costs: A 100 MW plant costs ₹5,000–₹6,000 crore. Infrastructure Gaps: Hydrogen transport and storage need an investment of ₹1,500 crore. Policy Support: Clearer incentives and regulations are critical. Roadmap India targets 5 MMT annual production by 2030 and aims to create a ₹8 lakh crore green hydrogen economy. Key enablers include R&D, public-private partnerships, and export focus. With the right strategies, green hydrogen can reshape India’s energy landscape, creating jobs, reducing emissions, and boosting energy security. Let’s embrace this fuel of the future! #GreenHydrogen #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #DrBhawaniRathore
