The Skyscraper Race Saudi Arabia is planning to build a two-kilometer-high skyscraper on a site north of the capital city of Riyadh. If completed, it will be the world’s highest building. According to architecture and design magazine Dezeen, UK studio Foster + Partners is the primary architecture firm on the proposal. As it stands, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building worldwide at 828 meters (2,717ft). Based in Dubai, the UAE, the 163-stored building was completed in 2010. In second place comes the Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at 679 m (2,227 ft), followed by the Shanghai Tower in Shanghai, China at 632 m (2,073 ft). When it comes to the world’s highest buildings, data from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat shows that Asia and the Middle East are winning the race to the skies. Out of this roundup, only one skyscraper, the One World Trade Center in New York City, is located outside of these two regions. China is particularly well represented, as it is home to five of the top 10 tallest buildings. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat database, the Burj Khalifa would be trumped by the proposed Burj Mubarak Al Kabir, which is planned to be built in Kuwait City, with a height of 1,001 m (3,284 ft) and 234 floors. The completion date is not published yet. #skycraper #building #tallestbuilding #worldwide #race source : statista

Saudi Arabia has begun construction on a massive cube-shaped attraction called the Mukaab in Riyadh. Set to be the world’s largest structure, the Mukaab will anchor the New Murabba development project, a major addition to Riyadh’s downtown, which was launched last year. This enormous building will measure 400 meters on each side—large enough to fit 20 Empire State Buildings within its walls. According to Michael Dyke, CEO of New Murabba, the Mukaab is designed to be an iconic symbol for Riyadh, featuring the world’s first fully enclosed skyscraper and an immersive dome displaying holographic images. Inspired by traditional Najd architecture, its design consists of overlapping triangular forms. The project has drawn criticism for its resemblance to the Kaaba in Mecca, with some viewing it as potentially controversial. Set to complete its first phase by 2030, New Murabba will eventually house 400,000 people and serve as part of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Vision 2030 urban development goals. #mukaab #saudiarabia #trendignow #PakistaniJournal

Did you know? The Burj Khalifa in Dubai is the tallest building globally, reaching an impressive 828 meters (2,716.5 feet). But how does it stay so strong? The secret lies in something called 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, which mixes different materials to make a tough structure. For the Burj Khalifa, they used a mix of steel and concrete to create a strong core. Why is this so important? Well, Dubai's extreme weather conditions, from blistering heat to powerful winds, demand a building that can withstand it all. Composite construction gives the Burj Khalifa the strength it needs to brave the elements and stand tall against the odds. Isn't it incredible how innovative techniques like this are shaping our cities, right? #CompositeConstruction #BuildingInnovation #BurjKhalifa

A solid foundation is the most important part of any structure. Before the Burj Khalifa was built (tallest building in the world), engineers studied the strength of the bedrock underlying the structure. They found that there wasn’t any bedrock, instead, they discovered weak to very weak sandstone and siltstone. They had to create a bedrock, so they built a 50m (164 ft) or approximately 15 stories deep foundation over a 14-month period. You can tell based on the timeline and investments that what was coming wasn’t a development with two hundred 2-bedroom units. It was something massive! 📖 Matthew 7:24-27 (a wise man who built his house on the rock.... a foolish man who built his house on sand) How did it all start? Before the architects could design what is now the Burj Khalifa, it was Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum vision to build the highest tower in the world! Despite several challenges, the engineers did hundreds of assimilations and recalibration to make the Ruler of Dubai’s vision a reality. What is your vision for your life and family? Is it aligned to your core values? What are you doing to make it a reality? #SPRINTERS #visions #values #PersonalGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #100daychallenge #cordeconnect #2024goals #2025visions

Meet Dubai's Burj Khalifa - the world's tallest skyscraper! Completed in 2010, at 2,717 feet it boasts the highest occupied floor and observation deck. With 160 stories of offices, homes, restaurants, and even a hotel - all defying gravity, wind, and earthquakes with style. You might think the coolest thing about this skyscraper is its appearance in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Remember Tom Cruise climbing the exterior without a stunt double? Well, we think it is the telescopic spire! Over 200m long and houses the communications equipment. It was constructed inside the building using more than 4000 tonnes of structural steel, then jacked to full height using a hydraulic pump. Truly a marvel of modern engineering and architectural genius. #scoutenengineering #thinkingbeyond #princegeorgebc #civilengineering #structuralengineering
