In the presentation, I explain briefly the role of satellite constellations in the future evolution of 3GPP and NTN (Non Terrestrial Networks) Standards. The satellite will fully integrate in future networks, by providing ubiquitous connectivity in coordination with TN (Terrestrial Networks). Both to offer service in up until now unserviced areas (due to the complexity of deploying base stations in remote locations) but also to offer additional capacity in certain areas as needed on peaks of demand. Two different approaches to achieve service from a space constellation, Starlink and AST Spacemobile, are also described briefly. Compact bespoke terminals are available to receive these services today. But for service directly to standard unmodified mobile phones, physical limits in terms of signal propagation distance, link budget, antenna reception, doppler delay... are cleary limiting factors to be taken into account. They will need to be engineered in the end to end system chain (satellites, antennas, terminals...) so that D2D can be achieved seamlessly in the future. - Antonio Castillo, https://micm.es/ For Antonio's full video presentation, click comment box! #subscribe Global 5G Evolution #youtube channel

Integrating satellite technology, like Starlink, with 4G and 5G networks is transforming the landscape of Fixed Wireless Access (FWA). Our blog dives into how combining low-latency satellite and cellular networks addresses challenges in remote or hard-to-connect areas. It highlights the importance of flexibility and resilience, ensuring businesses maintain consistent, high-speed internet even in difficult environments. For an in-depth look at how these technologies can optimise your network strategies, read the full blog here. https://lnkd.in/esUHWxCK #FWA #FixedWirelessAccess #Satellite #Starlink #CellularConectivity #RemoteConnectivity

And that is why the value of combining 4GLTE, 5G, Fiber and Low Earth Orbit Satellite broadband solutions with Zero-Trust Cyber Security Architecture has become non-negotiable worldwide.
Following on from my last post about Starlink... Our Celerway 5G units are another brilliant tool in our kit for event connectivity. They’ve delivered incredible results in many situations, but just like Starlink, they’re not a magic solution. When mobile cells get saturated—something that happens all too often at busy events—even the best 5G unit can’t perform miracles. It’s a harsh reality of our industry: no single technology can handle every scenario perfectly. Whether it’s satellite, 5G, or traditional fixed lines, each has its place, and the real skill lies in knowing how and when to use them together. The search for a "silver bullet" continues, but for now, adaptability and a mix of approaches remain our best bet.

The FCC has approved #Starlink's plan to provide #cellular service via #satellites, enhancing #mobileconnectivity in underserved areas. However, certain limitations remain, such as restrictions on emission power to prevent interference with existing networks. This development is part of a broader initiative to eliminate #cellulardeadzones and improve #emergencycommunications. While #texting services are expected to launch soon, full #voice and #data capabilities are anticipated in 2025. https://hubs.ly/Q02ZKhpS0
