🌍 Bringing the Best of Both Worlds Together in Satellite Connectivity 🛰️ Imagine reliable, stable connections at a competitive cost paired with low-latency coverage that reaches even the most remote places on earth. By integrating #GEO and #LEO satellite technologies, we’re enabling a powerful hybrid connectivity solution. GEO satellites deliver solid, consistent connections, while LEO satellites step in to provide unmatched speed and coverage in areas that GEO can’t reach—like polar regions and high latitudes. This combined approach opens up new possibilities for true global coverage, connecting people and industries wherever they need to be. Exciting times for the future of connectivity! #Satellite #Innovation #GlobalConnectivity #Starlink #SpaceX #Viasat #Iridium #KVH #MultiOrbit #Connectivity

The direct to handset discussion is triggering significant debates and posing crucial questions for the future of communications. In the US, the importance of emergency services during disasters has been highlighted with the recent hurricanes. Leading MNOs have already established their own DR 4G/5G towers, and they will most likely have to add capabilities with HAPS in the near future. Moreover, the limitations in throughput from a LEO constellation for direct to handset are evident, necessitating the assignment of more spectrum already in use by others to deliver more. Most notably, the discussion is raising essential sovereignty questions. A LEO constellation regulated in the US could obtain global authorization, impacting telcos worldwide. This trend is just beginning, with China poised to introduce similar constellation(s) soon. Read more about this evolving topic here: https://lnkd.in/eZKBKGeR

Still relatively early days here and with some technical challenges that need to be overcome, but an interesting development, nonetheless. The direct to satellite technology does have some useful use cases with many saying this will be the end of the “dead coverage zones” in rural areas as well as enabling “always on” access to emergency services. I wonder what impact this will have on the traditional GSM operator revenue in years to come.

The Future of Connectivity: Is Starlink the Solution? Maurizio Goretti, CEO of Namex, raises a warning: relying entirely on Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite constellation, to connect the most remote areas of Italy could be a mistake. The risk? Surrendering our critical infrastructure to a non-European monopoly and slowing down the development of the national fiber optic network. The alternative? A strong and shared European infrastructure that guarantees independence, quality, and security. 👉 Read the full interview by Emilio Cozzi to explore the topic of digital sovereignty and the future of connectivity in Italy and Europe: https://lnkd.in/daXuMmYa
