Afrika Tikkun's Level Up programme is a transformative journey designed specifically for young adults aged 18-28. Our aim is not just to offer guidance but to empower individuals to take charge of their lives and futures. Through a comprehensive curriculum, mentorship, and hands-on experiences, we provide participants with the tools and confidence they need to navigate the complexities of adulthood and pursue their career aspirations with vigor. At the heart of Level Up is a commitment to holistic development. We recognise that success isn't just about acquiring technical skills; it's also about cultivating resilience, emotional intelligence, and a strong sense of self. That's why our programme covers a wide range of topics, from financial literacy and entrepreneurship to communication skills and personal branding. We want to ensure that every participant emerges not only with the knowledge to excel in their chosen field but also with the adaptability and tenacity to thrive in any environment. But perhaps the most valuable aspect of Level Up is the sense of community it fosters. Participants don't just gain mentors; they become part of a supportive network of peers who share their goals and aspirations. This sense of belonging can be a powerful source of motivation and inspiration as participants navigate the ups and downs of their future career journeys. In short, Afrika Tikkun's Level Up programme isn't just about acquiring skills; it's about transforming lives. We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to realise their full potential, and we're committed to providing the support and resources they need to do just that #AfrikaTikkun #OneAfrikaTikkun #Changemakers

I’m just back from speaking to 6th formers in Bicester about career choices, not quite recovered from realising they *weren’t born* when I was making my own 6th form decisions. Seeing “2015” on the wall as part of a history display just underscored the point ... They were so thoughtful and reflective, I’ve got no doubt they are going on to great things, especially with such committed teachers. Today was a special day to do a careers event, as it's Social Mobility Day 2024. Research by the charity Inspiring the Future, who connected me to The Bicester School, shows that young people’s aspirations are heavily influenced by the jobs their family and neighbours do, TV, and social media. Far too many young people are failing to achieve their potential simply because, as the saying goes, ‘you can’t be what you can’t see’. I grew up with huge amounts of social and educational support, which gave me the freedom to pursue jobs I love (including this one!). However, OCF's publication Oxfordshire Uncovered highlighted that in our county there is huge inequality when it comes to life chances for our children. Careers days are only one small action, but I think they are especially valuable - and enjoyable - for building connections within our local community. I really recommend volunteering with Inspiring the Future, who today celebrate having made 4 million connections between volunteers and young people, through coaching, interview practice and talks. 🌟 Celebrating Youth Employment Week! 🌟 This week, we shine a spotlight on the incredible potential of young people entering the workforce. Youth Employment Week is a time to recognise the importance of empowering our youth to explore and choose their career paths confidently. 💼✨ For many young individuals, the journey from education to employment is a crucial phase filled with opportunities and challenges. It’s a time when they discover their passions, develop new skills, and shape their future. Supporting them through this transition is not just important—it's essential. 🌱🚀 However, for military children, this journey can be uniquely challenging. With frequent relocations, adjusting to new schools, and the absence of a parent due to deployment, military children face hurdles that require additional support. These young individuals often exhibit remarkable resilience but also need our help navigating these complexities and thriving. 🏠🎓 Here's why children from military families need our extra attention: Frequent Moves: On average, military families move every 2-3 years. This disrupts their education and makes it difficult to build a stable support network. Educational Gaps: Different schools have different curricula, making it tough for military children to keep up academically. Emotional Challenges: The stress of a parent’s deployment and the constant need to adapt to new environments can take an emotional toll. Limited Career Guidance: With the instability in their lives, many military children might miss out on consistent career guidance and mentorship opportunities. By offering tailored support, mentorship, and resources, we can help military children overcome these barriers and achieve their full potential. Let's come together this Youth Employment Week to celebrate the ambition and talent of our youth and commit to providing the necessary support for those who need it most. Empowering young people, especially those from military families, to choose their path confidently is an investment in our future. 💪🌍 Forces Employment Charity #YouthEmploymentWeek #EmpowerYouth #CareerDevelopment #FutureLeaders #MentorshipMatters Leanne Athena Dunmill Sian Kerr Kate Mai Sarah Peñaluna MSc Tanja Allen Ria Luke Meresa Lewis

Today is world #socialjusticeday! ⚖️ It’s a great time to think about building a fairer society. We know that people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds face structural barriers in education and employment. 🧑🎓👩💼 Here are a few things we’re doing to change that: 🔹Our Aspiring Professionals Programme helps talented young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds reach their full potential: https://lnkd.in/ervZ4fSe In 2022/23 we helped 2,145 students with mentoring, career workshops, university application support and internships with top employers. 🙌 🔹The workplace is as important as the classroom in creating social mobility. That’s why we run the Social Mobility Employer Index: an annual benchmarking and assessment tool for employers. 📊 Find out how to join here: https://lnkd.in/eDNunVQZ 🔹We measure the Class Pay Gap, which shows that professionals from working-class backgrounds are paid 12% less on average than their more privileged peers in the same occupation: https://lnkd.in/eeYstEiK Through our campaigns and advocacy, we hope to see that gap close. ✊
