🎯 BESST Project at NOC Slovenia Days 2024: Driving Safe Sport Forward Key findings from the Building European Safe Sport Together (BESST) project were presented at the Olympic Committee of Slovenia Days (Oct 15-16, 2024, Portorož). Co-funded by the EU, BESST aims to create a European sports environment free from transgressive behaviour. The event featured a round table on Integrity and Safeguarding in Sport, with diverse panellists, including athletes' rights advocates, legal professionals, government officials, and Peter Dokl from OKS, who also represented project BESST. On the second day, Andreja McQuarrie shared project outcomes on behalf of the project partners, including Academy Rudi Hiti, who was in attendance with a large audience of key figures in Slovenian sports. Project research indicates that European sports organisations are still in the early stages of safeguarding readiness, highlighting the need for ongoing efforts. Participants at the Athletes' Forum learned about safeguarding misconceptions and how to report transgressive behaviour. 📢 Learn more about the BESST project and OKS Days: https://lnkd.in/dv3FPrYD Project Partners: IGNITX, Lectoraat Sociale Innovatie Hogeschool Windesheim, UEFA Foundation for Children, NOC*NSF, Olympic Committee of Slovenia #BESST #SafeSport #Safeguarding #ErasmusPlus #SlovenianSport #SportForAll #EOA

You are invited! When: November 9, 2024 Where: Coharie Tribal Center, Coharie Tribe Hosted by: Grappling Ladies of the Southeast States (GLOSS) with AIWPN Contact for Vendors & Donors: Sam at email: Slhall0416@gmail.com This special event kicks off Native American Heritage Month literally and figuratively! It is aimed at raising awareness of the unique challenges Indigenous women face in today's society. Our goal is to highlight the numerous benefits Brazilian Jiujitsu can offer, including enhanced physical and mental health, confidence building, and self-defense skills. GLOSS is an organization dedicated to empowering and promoting female grapplers across the Southeastern United States. We recognize that Brazilian Jiujitsu is a powerful tool for improving both physical and mental well-being, as well as providing essential self-defense training. However, many Jiu Jitsu spaces remain male-dominated, which can be intimidating for women, particularly those new to the sport. GLOSS seeks to bridge this gap by creating supportive environments where women can connect, share knowledge, and train together. Event Details: Part One: • BJJ Demonstration/Introductory Class: A session focused on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) to highlight its health benefits and self-defense techniques. • AIWPN Talk: A 15-20 minute presentation by an AIWPN representative on the challenges faced by Indigenous women, including key statistics and community support strategies. Part Two: • Open Mat and Q&A: An interactive session allowing attendees to ask questions, observe, and participate in the practice. We are currently seeking donors and vendors to participate. If you are interested, please contact the event coordinator, Sam through email: Slhall0416@gmail.com. Your involvement would greatly contribute to our mission of fostering a more inclusive and empowering community for women in Brazilian Jiujitsu, and the Indigenous women of North Carolina. #AIWPN #GLOSS #selfdefenseforwomen #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth

Sport Lisboa e Benfica is once again at the forefront of innovative projects in the world of youth football. The African context, where talent comes naturally from the streets and villages of the different countries and where football finds its natural habitat, deserves to be the target of investment for the next 20 years and beyond. The ability to harness individual talent in a collective context, while preserving and enhancing the natural characteristics of the African player, is extremely difficult; however, it is also a huge challenge and responsibility. Giving hundreds of children the opportunity to fulfill their dreams while being part of their family and social context is a primary objective of the Benfica technical teams’ daily activities. What better way to end 2024 than by looking forward to a great 2025 with such a challenging project and many more to come? #benficacampus #youthdevelopment #africa #africantalent #benfica #bestacademy

It is a pleasure to continue growing academically in topics related to sports management. A few weeks ago the IOC Young Leader 4 week Learning Sprint Program began and with this comes the responsibility of becoming more committed to sports and socio-cultural development in my country (Perú). As part of the different tasks that we must complete, the first is based on sharing an inspiring project or program that connects sports with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The chosen project is a foundation Fundación Fútbol Más Perú that I have been following for several years, which has a focus on football as a tool for inclusion and social development in vulnerable communities. It focuses on emotional education and values such as respect and inclusion, impacting both children and their families. This allows the development of the following sustainable development goals 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 4 (Quality Education), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). This project inspired me to realize the importance of sport as the main tool for change in society, especially in a country like Peru that has a very large social-cultural gap. #IOCYoungLeaders #LearningSprintIOCYL International Olympic Committee – IOC
