📢 Have your say! 📢 What are your views on governance in the charity sector? The Charity Governance Code is being refreshed for the first time in four years – and charities of all sizes have until 11th August to take part in consultation and give their feedback. Could the Code better reflect the context your organisation is working in? Is it relevant? Is its content and structure fit for purpose or could it be improved? Last updated in 2020, the code is a practical tool which aims to support charities and their trustees in developing high standards of governance. 👉 Have your say and take part in the consultation survey here: https://bit.ly/4eoSmcY Have a great week! #charity #charities #nonprofit #thirdsector #governance #CharityGovernance #CharityIntelligence

Charity trustee disputes and the importance of resilient governance As with most relationships, no one ever thinks people are going to fall out until they do. When this happens amongst charity trustees, the consequences for a charity, its work and its beneficiaries can be significant, long-lasting, expensive and hugely disruptive. Jennifer Marley has written an article on this topic, in which she focuses on the recent high profile dispute at the Actors' Benevolent Fund and provides top tips on how to avoid disputes escalating within your charity. https://lnkd.in/efwVcqnV #charity #trusteedisputes #disputeresolution #charitydisputes #actorsbenevolentfund

Charities - the set and forget myth No doubt all persons responsible for charities (board, management etc) are aware that there is an ongoing obligation to review the governance and operations of the charity to ensure it remains eligible to be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. For those that need a refresher or are looking for a way to document this, the ACNC has a self evaluation form that can be completed and signed by the board. It's a good way to meet your obligations... but ultimately ensuring all responsible people are invested and across the activities of the charity is an even better outcome. Build this process into your year end and make it a habit #charities #philanthropy https://lnkd.in/gEPU-guB

Why volunteer? With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer. However, the benefits of volunteering can be enormous. Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes, and the community, but the benefits can be even greater for you, the volunteer. The right match can help you to find friends, connect with the community, learn new skills, and even advance your career. Giving to others can also help protect your mental and physical health. It can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose. While it’s true that the more you volunteer, the more benefits you’ll experience, volunteering doesn’t have to involve a long-term commitment or take a huge amount of time out of your busy day. Giving in even simple ways can help those in need and improve your health and happiness. If you would like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you 👇
