Reflecting ……… 2 and a bit years ago we moved our business KHR Company Ltd - Lagler UK …. It was a bold move for us and a bit of a do we don’t we situation …. We wondered if maybe this unit was too big for us and had a bit more than we need Last Friday we held our biggest event to date - we managed to fill the building and the whole car park - our neighbouring units are currently empty …….. it was a good job!! I think it’s safe to say we made the right decision moving - we have been able to do so much more …… and we still have so much more to give!! It just goes to show what you can do when your under a little bit of pressure. The team have been fantastic and the motivation is amazing from everyone. My thoughts if you were to ask me on this are: if you believe you can you will achieve and exceed. If you don’t push yourself and take yourself out of your comfort zone …. Your never going to win. Yes there are stumbling blocks and challenges along the way, no one said it would be easy …. It’s how you manage those obstacles and still keep pushing and believing……. What do I want to talk about? ⏸️ Right now just pressing pause ⏸️ And that’s exactly what I did today, I parked up 20 mins before school pick up, listened to a meditation and sat in the warmth of the car. It was like a mini vacation 😎 Life has been unbelievably busy, kicking off year 6 of Peony & Magnolia Ltd, launching the Peony Community with the focus on growth is both exciting and scary all at once. In the last few weeks I have met some great new connections, some at the CIPD Hertfordshire Connections event, others just organically, which I love. I have also had the opportunity to hug some old friends and colleagues I’ve met through work and studies. As I look ahead to 2025 I am actually putting it out there that I will have capacity for a new HR retained client, working as a fractional HRD & Coach, supporting your business to get the foundations in place before the employment law changes, they might seem in the distant future but now is the time to begin planning and implementing to avoid future risk. ⭐️ Maybe you are a founder and this is exactly what your company now needs? ⭐️ Maybe you have worked with me before, every P&M client so far has been through recommendations. 5 years ago I left the corporate world to join Nicci Birley MCIPD as we looked to build Cornerstone Resources HR Consultancy. Here's a few reflections from that time. 😬 3 month notice periods are long. Use with caution as keeping someone motivated for an extended period is really really difficult no matter how good the person is. 😁 Corporate life isn't for everyone. If you don't feel that you fit in large organisations, maybe you weren't meant to. There are other options out there! 😮 Self employed life is harder than I ever could have imagined, but its great to see something that you've worked hard for start to grow. It does come at a cost - especially the inability to switch off, even on holiday. Personally, I wouldn't change that decision in 2019 for the world. We've many challenges ahead but that's the fun part! #hrconsultancy #smallbusiness

Meet Levi, my super cute and inquisitive 10 year old son. Recently at school, he was asked what he wants to be when he is grown up, he responded that he ‘wants to be like dad’. When asked ‘what does dad do?’, he responded ‘he owns his own company and has lots of meetings’. While I’m flattered my son would like to follow in my steps, it made me wonder if people actually know what HR offers and the crucial tasks members of our profession undertake? Talent Advisory has been an exciting ride and upon reflecting and discussing with Levi what the day to day looks like; I have realised that in 8 short months of full time operation, we have - Written policies, procedures and agreements - Assisted with on and off boarding - Provided generalist support - Placed multiple candidates - Represented clients successfully before Fair Work - Lead investigations - Worked as in-house support - Mediation and conflict resolution - Managed workers compensation claims All this and more, across Tasmania and it’s islands. While Levi looked confused but interested, it’s services like this that are adding true value to my clients and has seen growth within the business.
