This gifting of the Match Ball sponsership to a life long fan just seemed like 'The Right Thing To Do'. Twists of fait brought our paths together. Match Ball Sponsors are normally in the Arnold Hills (as we were previous). However myself and others prefer the Forge because we get seats closer to the pitch (even if we go through another lounge), the rooms are more of a bustle although some might say slightly less sophisticated / exclusive. So I requested the change to suit 'our tastes'. On the offical site Aronald hills is 4x£ compared to Forge 3x£ but we want to see and 'feel' the game. Our tables happened to be next to each other due to the size of both parties, and the friendliness of both groups meant there was some interaction. After swwing the cake come out and hearing the stories, it was just the right thing to do. There will be other balls, but only one 85th. Or have I always been like Darren Margolias ? Only my long term friends I guess can answer that one! Personally I put it down to the good role modles I have had. They showed kindness does not mean weakness and needing to take tough decisions/ lines when needed; but giving / helping brings it own rewards. Imagine, if I was to organise a business event, charge you a lot of money for the privilege of getting in and then fleece you for drinks and food – would you attend? You might if the content & the experience were memorable. Time to put the paying spectator at the centre of this experience. So let's make tennis a better spectator sport. Try a single serve game. First serve doesn’t go in, its point over and move on to the next point. This would speed up the game considerably and make it a lot more attractive to watch. What about reducing the number of sets from five to three for the grand slams? Same logic. I play tennis, but I don’t want to sit and watch two players slog it out for up to five hours. Its boring. Firstly, a massive thankyou to everyone that has got behind our sponsorship drive during this close season. Our ‘Get a Board’ appeal is going from strength to strength and we are getting closer to filling the spots on the shirts! We’ve had plenty of enquiries for the kit sponsorship, which has been fantastic, but due to time constraints although we have sponsors lined up for future partnerships we still have two spots to fill ready for the coming season. As you can imagine when ordering 22 sets of shirts, the deadlines are tight. If you’d like to have a chat about taking on one of these spots, we’d love to hear from you. We are still looking for someone to take one of the spots on the back of the shirt, and have two sleeve spots, which could be for one business but could be for two smaller businesses looking to split the cost.
