This week The Full Circle Collective is starting with its supplier profiles, where we share the stories with you about the inspiring sustainable and circular enterprises who are stocking us with products and services that don’t cost the earth. Our featured supplier this week is Food2Soil Pty Ltd, a company founded by two female entrepreneurs Annabel Schweiger and Josie Grenfell who have created Australia’s first biofertiliser made entirely from reclaimed waste streams. We at The Full Circle Collective love the Food2Soil products because they’re a practical example of how food waste (one of our largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions) can be diverted into a sustainable and affordable natural gardening product. So far, Food2Soil has transformed more than 26,000kg of food waste into powerful plant food, thereby preventing more than 50,000kg of CO2 emissions. And Food2Soil’s fermentation process makes for probiotic-rich fertiliser that is great for your plants. How good is that! Check out this video for the story. https://lnkd.in/gFUbGa_n

Do you love protein AND environmentally friendly foods? If so, we've got great news! 🎉 In a recent report, the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) broke down the equivalent grams of Co2 per gram of protein across various categories of food, and found that wild fisheries produced just 39.5g of Co2 per gram of protein, less than a fifth of Red meats such as Beef or Lamb. 🥩 So the next time you're looking for a delicious meal while reducing your carbon footprint, try swapping your steak for Salmon!! 🐟 to find out more about us, and how we create a sustainable and fair supply chain, visit us at www.kingfisherfoods.co.uk 🐟 🐟 🐟

Water is life. And water is an essential ingredient in brewing beer. No water 💧 = no beer 🍺. Hence this #WorldWaterDay , it’s only apt that we renew our commitment to protect this precious resource, towards ZERO Water Waste. Here in our brewery in Malaysia, with a target of year-on-year reduction of our water consumption, we managed to reduce our water usage in 2023 by 6%, which is equivalent to 11 Olympic-sized swimming pools! We will continue to manage our water as responsibly as we can, while brewing the freshest beer for our consumers. Cheers 🍻 to that! #WorldWaterDay #WWD #TogetherTowardsZEROAndBeyond #TowardsZERO #TTZAB #ZEROWaterWaste #NoWaterNoBeer #CarlsbergMalaysia
Water is essential to brewing beer. But it is an increasingly precious resource 💧 To protect water both in- and outside our breweries, we have set ambitious targets to achieve world-leading water efficiency and to replenish water in areas with high water risk. We are making strong progress towards our targets. Globally in 2023, our breweries achieved a 31% reduction in water use since 2015, and we have established several new partnerships with NGOs to help us reach our target to replenish all the water we consume. Leading up to #WorldWaterDay, we proudly highlight our commitment to reaching #ZEROWaterWaste in brewing. Really interesting piece on the results of a life-cycle analysis of plant based vs animal meats from The Good Food Institute Key findings Plant-based meat provides the same amount of meat while reducing pressure on the environment. Plant-based meat has, on average, 91% lower impacts than beef, 88% lower impacts than pork, and 71% lower impacts than chicken. Plant-based meat is significantly more efficient and emits less air and water pollution. On average, plant-based meat uses 79% less land, 95% less water, and reduces water pollution by 93% compared to animal meat. Plant-based meat provides significant environmental benefits, across a range of inputs and production methods. Using real-world commercial data, plant-based meats consistently show lower impacts across different ingredients, protein sources, and production methods, and can be scaled with minimal natural resources. Those are pretty stunning results … #climatechange #naturecrisis #foodsystem #alternativeproteins https://lnkd.in/dmj5vGPd

As a US-based, women-owned business, we proudly carry the name "Aussie" in our brand. Why? Because we know that Australia is the best place to source our raw product--and we are proud to have it be our messaging lead. Not only does Australian-sourced contribute to the exceptional taste of our product, but Australia is the global leader in red meat sustainability. We are thrilled to share that the Australian red meat industry has made incredible progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Since 2005, the industry has reduced net emissions by 78%. In 2017, they committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. That means net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. At Aussie Select, we are committed to doing our part, one customer at a time. We are excited to help make lamb more accessible and approachable as a healthy, sustainable, and delicious source of protein. Join us in supporting the Australian red meat industry and their commitment to sustainability. #redmeat #sustainability #lamb #australia #charcuterie

We're passionate about upcycling and utilising edible sidestreams in food production, but what does it really mean to consumers? 🔎🤔 At Agrain, we transform spent grain into nutritious flour, helping to reduce food waste and promoting a circular food system. But one challenge we face, alongside other innovators like REDUCED, is the lack of clear and unified labelling for upcycled food products. Without an approved certification, it’s hard to convey what “upcycled” really means. Is it 100% upcycled ingredients, or just 5%? Transparency and trust are essential to help consumers make informed choices. The U.S. already has an official Upcycled Certified™ label verified by Where Food Comes From, Inc., setting a clear standard. It’s time we adopt a similar approach in Denmark and the EU, ensuring consistency and clarity in our communication. Until then, we’ll keep pushing for a system that benefits both consumers and the industry 💪 Thank you FødevareWatch for sharing our views on this topic. 🚨 SCO2 JOINS THE UPCYCLED FOOD ASSOCIATION TO ADVANCE UPCYCLING AROUND THE GLOBE SCO2 is celebrating our membership in Upcycled Food Association! Big shout out to Amanda Oenbring for making this happen. We really look forward to collaborating in 2025 and beyond! Facts: 😡 According to ReFED, in America alone, 52 million tons of food end up in landfills yearly. From the freshwater and greenhouse gasses, which is used to grow these crops that don’t end up being eaten, to the greenhouse gases emitted when food decomposes in a landfill, food waste profoundly affects the environment. 👍 Upcycling is a zero-waste philosophy dedicated to creatively using byproducts from agriculture and food manufacturing, unlocking their highest value and improving the way we value resources. 👍 Upcycling food is an ancient tradition based on the philosophy of using all of what you have. It's about doing more with less, and elevating all food to its highest and best use. Most of all, upcycled food is about reducing food waste, by creating high quality, nutritious food products out of the nutrients that slip through the cracks of our food system. SCO2's patented technology provides a new way to quickly and efficiently extract additional value from food processing waste BEFORE it ends up in a landfill–yes, you can be more sustainable and profitable at the same time! ⅓ of all food produced is lost or wasted every year. That's roughly 1.3 billion tons of food – enough to feed 3 billion people! This isn't just an ethical failing. It's an environmental and economic disaster. The food industry has a significant role to play in curbing this crisis. There are inefficiencies throughout the supply chain. From improper harvesting and storage to unrealistic cosmetic standards for fruits and vegetables. Restaurants with excessive portion sizes and a lack of composting options are also major culprits. We need a multi-pronged attack. The industry must adopt better practices. For example, improved storage and transportation and embracing imperfect but edible produce. Restaurants can offer smaller portions and encourage doggy bags. Clear labeling and consumer education can empower individuals to make smarter choices. Food waste isn't just about throwing away food; It's about squandering precious resources like water and land. The food industry has the power to be a part of the solution, not the problem. Let's be accountable and create a more sustainable food system. What are your thoughts here? PS: Happy World Environment Day #foodindustry #waste #environment
