We help bringing #AutonomousDriving to the next level. As part of the funded project #nxtAIM we leverage AI to enable fully automated driving (level 4) and autonomous driving (level 5) – while at the same time fulfilling the high safety requirements of the German automotive industry. “We see enormous potential in the generation of data for training and validation for radar-based environment detection through the utilization of generative AI,” explain Ernst Warsitz, Director Radar Technology & Perception and Claas Tebrügge, Head of the Research Institute for Automotive Electronics (E-LAB) at FORVIA HELLA. This light-house project clearly underlines the importance of public funding, which enables a project of such a size and scope with that many relevant partners, contributing to maintaining Germany as a key player in developing automated driving technologies. The large-scale project was now presented to the public, together with Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Robert Habeck. His Ministry is funding the project. We are proud to be part of this journey alongside Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) e.V., project coordinators Mercedes-Benz AG, Continental as well as many others partners. Excited to share that our research paper, "Seamless Integration of Fast LIO2 and Sophus for Advanced Autonomous Driving Capabilities," has been published on IEEE Xplore!! In this paper, we focused on enhancing the performance of the Kalman filter by integrating Sophus. This integration addressed the Kalman filter’s limitations in handling complex 3D transformations. Sophus provided efficient and accurate Lie group computations, significantly improving the filter’s capabilities, resulting in better pose estimation and overall SLAM performance. Our approach led to reduced absolute and relative pose errors and faster processing times marking significant progress in autonomous driving technology. A huge thank you to my amazing co-authors Sathish V, Lalith Kishore,Mohammed Asim and Mohammad Saifali Shaikh and our mentor Shwetha Baliga for their constant guidance and support.
