Bullet Bros Log #3 Weapon Mechanics are the core of shooter games. Creating a versatile script that does justice to the different types of guns was a very fun and challenging task that I had faced while working on this game. The final game contains 4 types of guns each having different variables like magazine size, spread, shoot speed, if the trigger can be held etc. As the game was made for a gamejam the specifics of the types of guns was not clear till couple hours before submission. Due to this making a gun script that can turn into any type of gun based on variables gave us flexibility to work on other parts of the game. As a coder I still strive to make game mechanics while keeping enough leeway so it can be easily modified in the future.
