🚀 One thing I've learnt as an entrepreneur is that I actually really love pitching - and helping others to pitch with confidence too!  😬 Don't get me wrong, I still get nervous every single time. But there's a reason why the 20-hour, 100-hour or even 10,000-hour rules exist - the more practice you put in, the better you get. I still vividly remember the first time I stood up to present in front of a room, I was a young intern at Intel and my then-boss got me (made me?!) do it.... My hands shook, my voice quivered and I went red from chest to cheek.  Thankfully that doesn't happen any more (but maybe its one of the reasons why I'm so partial to a scarf?! 😂) and I now jump at the chance to pitch In Good Company. Over the past couple months, a number of us at the 9point8 Collective have been invited to judge #startup pitch competitions. I love these events because of the efficiency they avail to both investors and founders. I thought I’d share what I think helps make for a great, quick pitch: 💔 Start with the problem. Too often, I hear folks get right into the product they’re selling without framing the demand for it. I want to understand the problem you’re solving, the value of solving it, and the size of the population willing to pay for the solution. ⚓ Anchor your narrative to your audience’s objective. Investors aren’t buying your product, they’re buying the opportunity it creates for them. After you explain the problem/solution, make it about the investment opportunity. ⏰ Be quick, but don't hurry. In timed pitch environments, it’s easy to feel like you need to rush. Focusing on what’s most important will give you time back. If you do a good job, here, there will be plenty of time for followup once you’ve got folks interested.
