TIPS AND TRICKS: SUMMER TICKLING https://lnkd.in/e_hy5Phs Stations are much more than just places where you get on or off the train. They are real melting pots that host thousands of stories. The flow of passengers is the brewery that brings together each one its unique journey. Railway infrastructures still hold great and surprising potential. In them we can live unforgettable experiences. Feeling the summer vibes, we went in search of some remarkable initiatives. Thanks to an outstanding theme, the commercial and touristic reach will be expanded. A strong concept is able to sell itself with less promotional effort. Some unique selling points (USP): * COASTAL TOURISM: Along the old Mediterranean corridor (Portbou-Barcelona-Valencia-Murcia) some beach bars are set up in the stations. Sea and beach lovers can walk from one station to another. On the way, there is the possibility to stop at an intermediate stop. Ideally, the now dismantled route between Salou and Vandellòs via Cambrils would have been the suitable spot for this coastal path. https://lnkd.in/eufTaEWY * RURAL TOURISM: In accordance with the coastal walk, a tour through nature is stipulated. The Swiss panoramic trains of the Grand Tour are an inspiring proposal. The semi-open roofs allow to enjoy more intensely the landscape. The route Aranjuez (Madrid) - Camporrobles (Valencia) also has an astonishing natural beauty. From the surroundings of Cuevas de Velasco (Cuenca) you can discover the exceptional fauna and flora. https://lnkd.in/egYjXbXx *FESTIVAL TOURISM: This practice is already a fact... On February 29th, 2024, the first festival (musical) was organized in a resort. The "Trainfest" may be followed by other similar editions. The festive joy of a well-known event already starts one day in advance. Santander Music could be extended with a previous and/or subsequent festival at the arrival/departure. https://lnkd.in/ePqhfWXP

Key conclusions of the study "Analysis of the evolutions of sports tourism in France" presented last week at the Sports Tourism Congress organised by Sport-guide.com in Pau, France. Congratulations and a big thank you to the organizers and speakers Gérard Baudry from Pôle Ressources National Sport-Innovations (PRNSI), Nathalie Henaff from Olbia Conseil, and UNION Sport & Cycle for this insightful study. 1. Sports Tourism in France Nearly 1 in 3 French people engage in some form of sports tourism! Whether it's practising their favourite activities, exploring new regions through itinerant sports, or attending sports events, the interest is booming. > Active Sports Tourism: 11 million French are actively involved, with hiking (14%), swimming (9%), and cycling/MTB (8%) topping the list. > Itinerant Sports Tourism: Favored by younger generations, 5 million enjoy cycling (7%), canoeing (2%), and sailing (1%) for adventure and nature connection. > Spectator Sports Tourism: Sports events and cultural experiences draw 5 million tourists to stadiums, museums, and more. 2. Challenges for the Sports Tourism Sector: > Adapting to climate change and global crises > Enhancing job attractiveness and training >Managing visitor flow in natural spaces > Increasing visibility of industry players 3. Opportunities for Growth: > Embrace the French appetite for movement > Innovate through new tourism trends and experiences > Leverage technological advancements > Use sports events as a catalyst to expand sports tourism 4. Strategic Focus: Three main areas emerge for the future: mobilization, promotion, and transition, supported by 28 key recommendations to further structure and elevate the role of sports tourism in France. Visit the full version of the study: https://lnkd.in/eie_t7Qg Hugo Alvarez from Atout France - The France Tourism Development Agency shared also very interesting figures and insights about sports tourism in France. Looking forward to seeing the study too. Thank you, Frédéric Tain for the invitation to the round table talking about cycling tourism with Mélanie Pontet and Rémi Laffont from Chez Octave • Tourmalet. Cycle tourism is also booming in France, with impressive figures: " 22 million French ride bikes during their holidays, with cycle tourism now surpassing hiking as the top form of itinerant travel. France ranks second globally, after Germany, with over 9 million cycling trips annually and 20% of foreign cycle tourists". Stay tuned for the congress conclusions on the event website. All the speakers and sessions were truly insightful. I was pleased to see how French sports and tourism stakeholders are placing sustainability at the heart of sports tourism. I'm thrilled to see how sports tourism is gaining momentum, with growing interest and knowledge thanks to the hard work of all stakeholders and industry players involved. https://lnkd.in/eXMCwEfH #sportstourism #TourismeSportif

Cycle tourism is revolutionising the way people travel in Europe, with several countries emerging as top destinations for cycling enthusiasts. Recent market studies confirm that Europe is the leading market for cycle tourism, attracting an increasingly large and diverse audience of cyclists. In a world of tourism now increasingly tailored to the consumer, the segment linking cycling and travel is a significant niche. In Italy alone, 6.3 million tourists have used bicycles during their holidays in recent years, generating an expenditure of EUR 7.4 billion. Increased demand for cycle tourism is also driving significant economic growth, with forecasts of a compound annual growth rate of 9.5 per cent until 2030. This boom is fuelled by the growing desire for environmentally friendly holidays and the widespread adoption of e-bikes, which make cycling accessible to a wider audience. As preferences shift towards experiential travel, the cycle tourism sector is set to expand, offering increasingly tailored and immersive experiences across Europe. For companies in the tourism and hospitality sectors, this represents an excellent opportunity to meet the needs of cycle tourists, from rental services to the creation of customised tour packages. Ship To Cycle is an excellent partner for companies in the sector, offering them the service and management of bike transport, thereby growing and expanding their business.
