🍂 3 Areas to Declutter Before Winter & How We Have A Truck Can Help! 🍂 As we transition into the colder months, it’s the perfect time to declutter and create more space in your home—and for a great cause! Donating gently used items not only helps others, but it can also bring a fresh start to your own space. Here are 3 areas you can tackle before winter, and how We Have A Truck can help make the process seamless: 1️⃣ Closets Out with the old and in with the new! Seasonal clothing and shoes that no longer fit or haven’t been worn in a year can be donated. Clearing out your closet not only creates more space for the upcoming season but also helps those in need stay warm this winter. 2️⃣ Basements and Garages Winter is a great time to tackle those forgotten boxes and old tools taking up space. Whether it's old furniture, exercise equipment, or seasonal decor, it’s easy to accumulate items that are just gathering dust. Sort through them, donate what you don’t need, and free up valuable space for more important items. 3️⃣ Kids' Rooms Kids grow quickly, and their toys, clothes, and books can pile up fast. Decluttering their rooms and donating items they’ve outgrown will not only make space but also give these items a second life with other children who need them. 🛻 How We Have A Truck Can Help We make it easy to sort, trash, and donate your unwanted items! Simply schedule a pickup with We Have A Truck, and our team will handle the heavy lifting, sorting, and delivery to donation centers. Let us help you declutter and give back this season! #Declutter #WinterPrep #Donate #Community #WeHaveATruck #SimplifyYourSpace #GivingBack

Don't throw out old furniture 🪑 —give it a new life! When it's time to say goodbye to your unwanted furniture, consider how you could revive, reuse or recycle it ♻️! Feeling creative? Why not revive furniture with DIY projects 🎨 like transforming a ladder into a bookshelf or a vintage suitcase into a side table. You could donate it to local charities, schools, or community groups 🤝. Ensure items meet safety standards (look for the BSI Kitemark!) and are in good condition before donating. You could also try joining platforms 💻 like Freecycle for free furniture exchanges or find inspiration in our blog on donating and upcycling furniture 🔗https://okt.to/j9mDyi Remember, your unwanted furniture could be a treasure for someone else! ⭐ For more information on what to do with unwanted furniture, visit our webpage👉 https://okt.to/86G3pU #furniturereuse #sustainability #trashtotreaasure #furniturerecycling

Heard of the room-by-room decluttering method? It's pretty self-explanatory. Move room-by-room fully decluttering one space at a time and then move onto the next. This method is simple but effective. It keeps you motivated, so you can see big results faster. It also creates spaces to enjoy your work and boosts your confidence. Start with quick-win spaces, commit to one room at a time, and don't let the trash/donations linger. Avoid one of the cons of this method (making another room a dumping ground) by handling each item once: make a decision about each item (keep, donate, trash, or relocate) so you don't have to decide about that item when you make it to the "dumping ground" for your final room to declutter. If you have any gently used coats or winterwear that you need to declutter, contact me about my 3rd Annual Coat Drive, which is underway. Drop-off locations are in Philadelphia. Outside of Philly? I am sure there is a local charity shop that would be grateful for your donations! More tips on this method here: https://lnkd.in/e3i5e_jx #Declutter #InteriorDesign #Homes

A cluttered home can make you feel overwhelmed, anxious, and stressed out, but by clearing out unnecessary items, you can create a more serene and organized living space. Here are a few tips to help you declutter: 📦Make Four Boxes Label the boxes: trash, recycle, donate and sell. Everything you decide to get rid of can go into one of those four bins. 🎋Start with Seasonal Decor If any out-of-season decorations are still up, it's time to take them down. Any items that you aren't excited to put up next year are great for the donation bin. ⏳Set a Time Limit Do some decluttering each day and limit the amount of time you spend working on it so it doesn't start to take over your whole life. 🧹Tackle One Zone at a Time Rather than looking at your home as one massive project, break it down into zones that are easier to tackle, and work one zone at a time 🍴Reclaim Your Kitchen Start with your kitchen first. In addition to being one of the most-used rooms in the average house, it's also one of the areas that is most prone to becoming cluttered. 📦Donate If you haven't used something in the last year and you don't have a good place to put it, that's a sign that you don't need it. Time to donate!

UPDATED 08/21/2024: We want to thank the amazing community for their support, please keep sharing and let's gather all the equipment and items we need to get Closet Share up and running. Closet Share is a community-focused program dedicated to collecting local clothing donations, washing and sorting them into tiers, and cataloging them on an online store for community members to access. We provide affordable clothing solutions through a tiered system, with Tier 1 offering free clothing for low-income families and organizations, and Tier 2 allowing the broader community to purchase items at low costs. Additionally, our Boxes of Rags program repurposes unusable textiles to prevent them from ending up in landfills, contributing to environmental sustainability. We are excited to announce that we have recently leased a warehouse to expand our operations. Unfortunately, we did not receive the government funding we applied for, and the warehouse requires some renovations to get it functioning for our program. We need various supplies, and if you have any items that you would be interested in donating to Closet Share, we would greatly appreciate it. We are also always looking for volunteers to help with the growth and building of Closet Share's warehouse. Your support can make a significant difference in our community! • Shelving • Laundry Consumables • White Boards • Electrical • Plumbing • Repair of washers and Dryers • Racking for Hanging Clothes (2x4’s and poles would work) You can reach out to Melissa at 249-878-7513 or info@closetshare.ca if you have any questions or would like to donate any of the above items or even volunteer some time to our great cause. #Volunteers #volunteer #sudbury #sudburyontario #nonprofit #MakeADifference #makeanimpact

Maximizing the End-of-Life Value of Mattresses At Junk Rescue Pinellas, we are frequently asked, "How can I donate my used mattress?" While donation is a commendable goal, traditional options like Goodwill or Salvation Army often have limitations on mattress condition. Additionally, many junk removal services may not possess the resources for true mattress repurposing. Here's the good news: Up to 90% of mattresses and box springs can be diverted from landfills through responsible recycling. The various components, including wool, foam, cotton, and steel, all hold value. Fabric can be baled and sold for applications like carpet padding, while steel gets compressed for recycling. Wood from box springs can even be transformed into OSB (oriented strand board). Junk Rescue Pinellas is committed to achieving a 100% repurposing rate for discarded mattresses and box springs. By partnering with responsible recycling facilities, we ensure these materials get a second life, minimizing environmental impact and maximizing resource recovery. #donation #recycling #management #smallbusiness #wastemanagement #mattress https://lnkd.in/eZ99S22w

It was eight or nine bags of clothes, shoes, & stuff animals taken to the women’s shelter for donation this morning. We have another nine bags of clothes, shoes, & stuff animals to take tomorrow for donation. I have boxes then to move into the garage (or possibly to go through again to decide what to keep & what to donate), then try to rearrange Arick’s room a little more so that I can move a few things out of my room & into his room…so I can rearrange things a little more in order to try to fit more of my furniture from the storage unit into my bedroom. Will I have my storage unit cleared out by next Saturday? Not sure…it depends on what I manage to get done over the next few days & what the plans are for next week (because the last few things do require more than just two people to try & move). But it will be cleared out by the end of the year. Truthfully…this is something I should have been doing years ago…but I guess better late than continuing to pay an outrageous storage fee… Then it will be tackling getting rid of DVDs (figuring out best sites to sell on and/or possibly donating)…possibly some CDs (maybe…possibly…will have to really think about this one)…and just decluttering the house in general…working from the bedrooms out to the main ‘rooms’…then the garage & then finally the abyss of it all—the attic. But while I wait for the small load of dishes to finish running (so I can then start the small load of laundry)…it’s time to work on some personal/professional development projects: redrawing my comfort/bounce/stretch/risk/die diagram & possibly redraw/contemplate what I feel my latest level 10 life looks like. #selfawareness #selfaccountability #decluttering #dontations #clearingoutthestorageunit #workingtowardsmyversionofminimalism #wehavewaytoomuchstuff

Decluttering? Here’s What to Do With the Items You’re Letting Go If you’re decluttering and you’re not sure what to do with certain items, here are a few options: Pass Down to Family or Friends: Some items may hold sentimental value. Consider passing them along to loved ones who will appreciate them. List Items Online – Try sites like Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or OfferUp to connect with local buyers quickly and easily. Contact Consignment Stores – Quality items like furniture, collectibles, and decor often do well at consignment shops. They’ll handle the sale for you, and you receive a portion of the profit. Donate – Set a deadline and if items haven’t sold, consider donating them to local charities, thrift stores, shelters, or community programs. Gently used items like clothing, kitchenware, and furniture are often welcome additions. Recycle: For items that can’t be donated (like some electronics or large appliances), check for local recycling programs. Decluttering can feel freeing and helps make your home—and any future moves—easier to manage. Need a recommendation for good local consignment shops, thrift stores, or charities? Message me! I’m happy to help! 🏡✨ #declutteringtips #seniorliving #organizedhome #SRES #seniorrealestate #seniorspecialist Alzira Escobar-Pruitt, GRI MRP ABR CLP CREN SRES RE/MAX Real Estate Group (719) 210-9848 alzira@alzirarealtor.com
