🌊 #OceanoFresco 🇵🇹 has secured €17M in a new funding round with Aqua-Spark, BlueCrow Capital, Indico Capital Partners, and Banco Português de Fomento (BPF), according to Portugal Business News. Oceano Fresco, a Portuguese startup, raised €6.1M in a Series B round in November 2021 and €11.5M in June 2024. This new funding round is a significant milestone in attracting Portuguese and foreign investments. We've been a little quiet recently but for good reason... The last few months have in fact marked an important milestone for our project: we are proud to announce that the #Asteasier start-up has been founded and has already started to be talked about! :) This was a fundamental step in the development of the Asteasier project, which in less than two years went from the research and trial phase to the market entry phase. And the first results were not long in coming: last October 22, in fact, Asteasier was presented in Verona as part of the Italian FoodSeed acceleration program which, with an endowment of 15 million euros, is part of the CDP Venture Capital SGR and is promoted by Fondazione Cariverona, UniCredit and Eatable Adventures. FoodSeed believed that Asteasier, and 6 other selected start-ups, are capable of bringing innovation to the agri-food sector, with the aim of strengthening the ecosystem and introducing a new way of thinking about food and technology. In addition to a financial boost, the partnership between FoodSeed and Asteasier will translate into the possibility of collaboration with companies in the agri-food sector and, therefore, into growth opportunities. Last week, we attended the World Circular Economy Forum WCEF in Brussels, an event organized by Sitra that brought together experts and interested guests from all over the world to discuss circular economy topics. Besides many theoretical discussions, the focus was also on presenting best practice examples from companies and startups. Therefore, our Managing Director Andreas Mucke participated in a panel discussion on "Circular Hubs: Multilevel Approach Creating Impact in Practice" introduced by Ladeja Godina Košir (Circular Change & European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform) and moderated by Brigitte Mouligneau (Circular Flanders) and Luca Polidori (Holland Circular Hotspot). Andreas Mucke presented Circular Valley and emphasized the cooperation between Belgium and Germany, in particular the partnership between the regions of Flanders and North Rhine-Westphalia. In doing so, he reinforced the agreement that was officially announced at the Circular Valley Forum in November 2023 to initiate practical projects. The WCEF also provided the opportunity to connect with many fascinating people who, like us, are committed to the transformation to a circular economy and also to catch up with old friends - such as Sebastian Daus from the startup FixFirst - The OS for Circular Services & Products, which had taken part in the first batch of our Accelerator program. However- we have been selected as one of 16 global startups (out of 190) to reach the final of the Circular Packaging Challenge, and we will head to Madrid in November to pitch for the win 🍾 🙌 What really matters though, is that we'll meet with some of Spain's and Europe's largest companies that in some way are dealing with packaging- and discuss circular solutions. 🚀 Within the scope of the Social Impact Award, implemented by Impact Hub Tbilisi with the support of EFES Georgia and Anadolu Efes, the finalist teams have been revealed! 💡 About 60 applications were submitted this year, and six teams with innovative ideas were selected: ◾ MFT: A smart cap that allows people with special needs to control a mouse by moving their tongue. ◾ Hoppla: A travel platform that connects drivers and passengers on a common route. ◾ Portico: A freight management platform that optimizes routes. ◾ Petcare: An AI-based application that scans a pet's body, indicates possible diseases, and offers live consultation to the user. ◾ BIONOVA: A device that produces biogas, biofertilizer, and electric energy from organic waste. ◾ Story Land: A platform that allows users to turn any story, tale, or narrative into a game. 👉 Over the next two months, the selected teams, together with mentors, will work intensively to develop their ideas. 📣 At the final stage of the program, three winning teams will be identified.
