As World Space Week kicks off www.worldspaceweek.org it seemed worth looking at the infographic produced by Space Partnership on the UK's Satellite Manufacturing Supply Chain and seeing how companies in the West of Scotland Space Cluster feature across it The cluster has two companies classed as Tier 1, 2 and 3 in the shape of AAC Clyde Space and Alba Orbital. A Tier 1 and 2 company with Spire. A Tier 2 and 3 in the shape of Raytheon UK and a Tier 2 only with Craft Prospect. And in terms of Tier 3 suppliers Metahelios ltd, MVP Aerospace Ltd and recent inward investor, Simera Sense UK. We can add in the mix a great range of regional supply chain companies who support our manufacturers in terms of components and parts, hardware and materials. From an R&D perspective, we can add four Universities into the mix University of Strathclyde, University of Glasgow, Glasgow Caledonian University and University of the West of Scotland. If you are part of this value chain that makes the West of Scotland the driving force in Scotland's space sector and a critical part of the UK's end-to-end space capability, then add your company details to the cluster directory and make sure you are visible in the region and beyond... https://lnkd.in/e3WCRH7V Craig Clark MBE FREng FRSE FIES Peter Anderson John Charlick Andrew Strain Tom Walkinshaw Theresa Condor Alan Kane Steve Greenland Natasha Grummitt Yash D. The UK space sector will be most important in the next few decades. As chief executive of the UK Space Agency Dr Paul Bate recently stated: "...space is going to be a government priority and it’s here to stay." With more and more government funding being dished out and more licenses being granted, the exponential growth of the space sector is clear to see. Getting more talented space engineers will be an issue for companies in the future, but that's why Hernshead is here: https://bit.ly/499AFu6 #Space #Engineering #Controls #Recruitment
The only way is up: Space race making a huge difference for Britain, say industry leaders

Today, we discussed equity, policy, and the role of AI in education. Lots of questions leave room for exploration. How do we bring awareness of the power of AI to the masses? How do we ensure quality training? What cultural biases exist when bringing in external trainers? How do we reach policymakers? How do we ensure AI isn't seen as a shiny new toy? How do we promote a positive vision of AI across industries? We also discussed the specific situation in Kenya, where access to internet and AI resources is limited. Some avenues to explore: 1️⃣ Education and Awareness: We can work to raise awareness about the benefits and potential of AI in various sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and finance, organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences that bring together stakeholders from government, academia, and the private sector. 2️⃣ Policy Advocacy: We need to collaborate with policymakers to develop informed AI policies that promote investment in AI technologies. This could include drafting policy proposals, participating in public consultations, or working with think tanks and research institutions that influence government decisions. 3️⃣ Collaboration with Universities and Research Institutions: It's beneficial to forge partnerships between government and academic institutions to advance AI research and education. Supporting initiatives that can provide the government with the necessary expertise and research capacity to make informed investment decisions in AI is crucial. 4️⃣ Promote Public-Private Partnerships: We can encourage government and private sector collaborations to co-invest in AI projects. This could help leverage private sector expertise and resources for public good, facilitating more rapid adoption and implementation of AI solutions. 5️⃣ Capacity Building: We can advocate for and support the development of AI literacy and skills among government officials and employees. This helps create an informed workforce that can actively participate in and drive AI initiatives. Thank you Andrea Kellman (Bryan), M.Ed, Moses Okoth, and Dianah Nyamweya for an inspiring jump into the global issues surrounding AI. #AI #globalAI #equity #consulting #policy #bias

Matt Hungerford joins the podcast this week to talk about the era of “next-generation space” that’s well underway, led by commercial space companies’ democratization of technology and missions. The government has taken notice of the domain’s evolution, according to Hungerford, from down-to-earth costs for building and launching miniaturized satellites to ubiquitous mission payload hosting that’s akin to ridesharing, all of which has dramatically lowered space mission risks. Being able to build assets faster and cheaper and get them into space more frequently, we will see the government adapt technology and innovation toward quantity and quality, resulting in proliferated space assets that bring resiliency to both national security and scientific exploration missions.
