To be honest with you job seekers if you are lucky to get a job keep quiet and focus on your JD it's difficult to find a perfect work environment In Kenya except the international companies who have branches in Kenya. I speak out of experience I have been in the Micro finance sector for over 15yrs and I can confirm with confidence that there nothing like a perfect work environment you have learn to leave with the toxic environment and when you are fed up you resign and look for another chance elsewhere. That is the harsh reality job seekers need to know about jobs in Kenya.

#Dearjobseeker, Please allow me to speak on a very #controversial topic, Yes, my helmet is on!! The allure of working with #multinationals, The dream of every #jobseeker is to land themselves, a good employer, offering a hefty pay package, and if luck is on your side, other attractive benefits such as a #gymallowance, entertainment and other benefits that just make you giddy with excitement, that we always assume can only be obtained in an #MNC. Well, truth be told, its not always rosy at MNCs as we assume, and here is why: 1. The organisational structure is not lean, these businesses are characterised with so many work levels, such that if you are a star, and looking to grow within the organisation, it basically takes too long for you to rise within the organisation to take place, and also granted that there many employees also seeking the same role, this makes promotion quite difficult to come by, and work politics become so rife. 2. Due to the harsh economic conditions, most of these #mncs are actually winding up their operations in some African countries, Kenya being a perfect example! And based on the fact that profitability is very key for these businesses, it is quite the norm to be an unfortunate victim of #massivelayoffs, in a whiff! However, there is a glimmer of hope! There are some locally owned businesses in Kenya, that are actually quite structured, offering attractive benefits, with better growth prospects that many candidates overlook, all in the yearn for working for an MNC. From a recruiter's point of view, be open minded! There are very many locally owned mid sized businesses, ready to offer jobseekers promising opportunities, which many overlook, as they have the allure of working in a multinational. #beaware #jobsinkenya #nowhiring

Dear Business Owners, As you prepare to pay September salaries, let’s address the pressing issue of high transport costs. Many employees are spending up to ₦20,000 a week just to commute, which is unsustainable given their stagnant salaries. This is driving talented individuals away, not because they lack skills but because they can't afford to work. It’s time to get proactive. Explore remote work options and consider offering housing support or even bicycles for those who can cycle to the office. If you go this route, adding a shower room can make a significant difference in your workspace's atmosphere. Lead with empathy and adapt to the times. Best, Uche Nwachukwu Strategic Lead, 9os Nigeria

In Kenya, securing a job often hinges on "knowing someone who knows someone." Highly qualified individuals face hurdles in securing employment, while others, with potentially lesser qualifications, effortlessly land positions purely through connections. This perpetuates inequality and erodes the principles of meritocracy, which is fundamental to a fair and just society. Let's reevaluate our hiring practices and ensure opportunities are based on merit, skills, and qualifications rather than just personal connections. Together, let's advocate for a shift towards a meritocratic approach to hiring, where talent and potential are valued above all else. #KenyanJobs #Meritocracy #EqualOpportunity #InclusiveHiring
