We are a Marketplace model, different than most recruiting or job board platforms. On theirs, you post a job opening then wait for someone to see it and apply. You spend hours sifting thru resumes only to find 90% don't have the skills you posted. Big time waster! Imagine you’re at the supermarket standing in front of a refrigerator. You don't say, I want frozen pizza, then wait for the refrigerator to be stocked. Choices are already in it, plain, extra cheese, pepperoni, and you can read the box of each, “all natural” “low sodium”, etc… Now imagine Where Trades Go is that refrigerator. Need a carpenter, with an OSHA30 card, it’s in there. Move one door down and there’s a painter who has lift certification. On each profile, like the pizza box, it shows proof of identity or certification and other pertinent construction related information. Imagine that Supermarket in the palm of your hand, and if we are out of stock, we’ll notify you when we refill, saving you time. You go to the market because that's where the food is. You come to Where Trades Go because that’s where tradespeople are!

Agreeing that we should let the master do his job, while it's important to recognize and appreciate the expertise of master-level professionals, we must also consider the value of junior and mid-level experienced individuals. Achieving equilibrium is crucial in maintaining a diverse and skilled workforce. And it's disconcerting to observe some companies undervaluing their long-term employees in favor of new hires, despite their years of dedication and contributions. Advocating for fair recognition and opportunities for growth across all levels of experience within organizations is imperative
Just about have my new kitchen complete. Five months to finish project, two years to find the right person. It was a long search to find someone that took great pride in their effort, worked at a fair (not cheap) price, and was a master at their craft. I was very lucky to find someone as currently contractors in Florida can just pick their jobs and name their price. Turn 3 rooms into one, electrical, plumbing, just 2 people. I took his advice at every step, cabinet vendor, counter vendor, etc. I hired a master, so it made sense to listen. Our goals were the same so it worked well, we wanted my new kitchen to be spectacular and all I had to do was stay out of his way. Had our goals been different, it never would have worked. Had I demanded full compliance over quality, I would not have his best. Many times I felt like Tim the Toolman as he considered my idea, "I don't think so Bob". I had to find a compromise that accomplished my goals but passed his test. First time we've ever done anything of this scale, but I'm glad we waited to get the very best person for the job.

One way to stand out as a BSC and FM is to achieve more cleaning tasks without adding more time or labor hours. You don't want to charge your client more but you want to go above and beyond by getting to lower-priority tasks more often. Or by giving bathrooms and floors extra attention. Who doesn't love sparkling bathrooms?! Here's what you do! Bring on Cobi 18 and let Cobi handle the floors so your staff can tackle those items at the bottom of the list and check the bathrooms more frequently. Your clients will notice their space is cleaner, feels fresher, and is an all-around great place to be. They'll be really impressed with the services you're delivering! Who knows, they might even tell you! #cobotics #facilitiesmanagement #cleaning

“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes is better than a master of one.” I have come to realize in my entire working career that it is okay to “dabble” when you have free time to learn as many skills as you can. If I have never had the curiosity or drive to learn more, I might still be working in a job from 20 years ago. Learning expanding aspects of each business you associate with has had a tremendous effect on broadening my horizons in my career and giving me a confidence when having to adapt to new roles. I.e Working in Janitorial all these years? I have learned how to clean carpets, accomplished my lift certification, accomplished my OSHA10 training, learned billing, shadowed walkthroughs and bidding, learned window washing skills, learned about chemical reactions with different flooring. All of this has helped me make more connections and showed people I associate with my capabilities to always learn more and gain more. I’m thankful for being a “jack of all trades”. #newbusiness #entrepeneur #skillset #janitorial #newcompany #learning #training #certifications #trades #schooling

The most exciting part - touring a construction site and seeing the area before the interior fit out. I've always loved this part of the pre-opening process and appreciate the work of the architects, engineers and construction. It's important to walk through the areas with an operational mindset to give your inputs and changes early on. As an operator what does one look for? 1. Storage space - the amount of equipment such a linen, banquet tables, trolleys need their own dedicated space. 2. Safety and security - e.g. what areas need ramps, zebra lines, sprinklers and smoke detectors 3. CCTV placement 4. Hygiene - are the areas for food and beverage well defined and separate to avoid cross contamination? Are the spaces provided for garbage sufficient? 5. Operational flow - mapping out the journey of the staff from staff entrance to locker, to uniform 6. Guest flow Yvette Nicdao, CSSYB,FSCO Imelda Durmiendo, FSCO

The picture below was the view from my bed for the last 3 days, notice all the hand prints. This brought back memories of a dissatisfied customer because the cealing was a mess. The back side of hand prints is they sure make it easy to find the equipment you’re looking for. All kidding aside, leaving things better then you found them really should be a way of life for anybody working in the trades. If you’re going to do a nasty job, make sure you include floor protection. If you’re up on a roof that has fresh mastic then take your boots off before walking on the carpet, because no matter how hard you try you will pick that stuff up. If you’re working above a cealing ask before you start the job if they have spare tiles, a lot of times they let you take them out of a vacant suite. Wear gloves or try and use the back side of your hands. If it’s hard lid with a access door spray the paint with 409 and clean the door and cealing. Try and put a tarp under the latter and always clean up the carpet or floor before you leave. Wipe down the bathroom sink after you wash up. The bottom line is you can do the best job in the world but if you leave a trail of fan bearing grease from the roof access to the elevator door then this is how they will remember you, it won’t be that you busted your butt and worked through the night to get them back on line it will be you left a mess in the building. I know this is long winded for me but hounestly after staring at that for 3 days it really made me wonder not only about the technician but also the facility manager and the chef Eng. because you see caring always starts at the top.

Another gripe about customer service I need a cleaner for an end of tenancy so I’ve contacted umpteen cleaners from various sources. Not one of them is prepared to come and look at the job before quoting They have all asked for photos and floor plans. How can any of them know exactly how much work is involved? How dirty is it? Is it full of grease, grime and cobwebs or does it just need a surface clean? My husband was a painter and decorator in his day. People would phone and say how much is it for a small bedroom? He would always say I would have to see it. How small is the bedroom? Is it full of obstacles, ornaments, shelves, doors, windows, cupboards, radiators? Is it full of holes and cracks and therefore needs more preparation? Did it have wood chip or anaglypta? Is a light colour covering dark and therefore needs more coats? Would you feel comfortable with this person in your house and vice versa? All this can assessed by eye even more quickly than explaining over the phone. It isn’t just about cost, it’s about being comfortable and about being thorough. I know it is a different profession but I still think it isn’t possible to offer accurate quotes without even looking at a job? What do you think?

🗨️ Supervisors out in the factory all have keys to our QUICKSTOCK cabinets, they are in charge of making sure we're not spending too much. It's easy because we used to have them communicate when they were running out. Now we can just keep track of what they're using but they also have that control.’ 🗨️ The administration staff don't spend the time raising purchase orders, talking to sales reps, waiting for things to come in from back order. The factory supervisors don't need to chase administration to organise the supplier parts. The thought in the back of your mind of 'oh have I got this?' it just doesn't exist anymore because it's in the cabinet.’ 🗨️ And I believe it was probably from a sales rep turning up and saying 'Hey! Have I got a blue cabinet for you'. Which the more we looked at it, the more sense it made.’ Grant and the team at Real Steel tell us how QUICKSTOCK has transformed their inventory management. 🔹🔹 NEWBURY RETAIL DOOR FRAME SPRAYING 🔹🔹 We were contacted by a Newbury based retail store to respray the customer entrance door frames, window frames, and delivery doors and frames in line with their brand colours. As well as the visual appeal, well maintained frames will improve the integrity of your building, and reduce on-going maintenance costs, preventing corrosion and other issues, which could result in expensive replacement. Every project we undertake will have a thorough on-site inspection. This allows us to accurately quote for the work, and also prevents productivity issues, such as accessibility to the areas to be resprayed. Our inspection will have highlighted any areas requiring repair. These areas will be repaired and primed ready for respraying – this attention to detail ensures a high quality finish. Windows and areas not requiring painting are carefully masked off before respraying with 2 coats of paint. #contractors #refurbished #paint #cladding #guarantee #refurb #goodasnew #buildingrepair #paintguarantee #paintspraying #cladding #claddingrespray #giromax #MetalSheetRefurbishment #healthandsafety #safety #safetyfirst #health #ppe #workplacesafety #hse #safetytraining #worksafe #safetyculture #safetyatwork #safetymanagement #cjpaintspraying #rebranding #refurbishment #specialists #claddingrepair #claddingpainting #beforeandafter

Lets talk about 'fire-safe upholstered furniture and mattresses'! Its clear that this topic is allways food for good discussions:-) But we've got news! After several fatal fires, caused by the flammability and smoke production of upholstered furniture and mattresses, the Dutch government has decided to introduce legislation for the fire safety of furnishings. The Nederlands Instituut Publieke Veiligheid (NIPV) has established a Community of Practice (CoP), in which companies participate that supply products that fit within the proposed regulations. And retailers participate in this CoP. This CoP advises and supports legislators on basic principles that the legislation must comply with, as well as necessary and feasible test methods. The feasibility of new legislation for both large and small companies is therefore central to the CoP. In the European Fire Safety Week a workshop will explore this process from various perspectives, serving as an example for other Member States considering similar legislation and highlighting the roles that the business community and fire brigade can play in this process. So be informed about the process of developing fire safety regulations for upholstered furniture and mattresses. And be inspired by emphasizing the specific role of the industry in this process!
