Hello Android Devs, 🚨 Still relying on the old ConnectivityManager deprecated callbacks to observe internet in Android? It’s time to use a new easy way to observe the internet. For years, many of us used the now-deprecated NetworkCallback or the BroadcastReceiver with ConnectivityManager to track connectivity changes. But let’s face it – they were clunky, error-prone, and lacked the elegance modern apps demand. 😅 💡 Enter Kotlin’s Flow – a game changer for observing network changes! In this article I explained how Flow not only simplifies observing internet status but also makes your code reactive and cleaner. ✨ Benefits of switching to Flow: ✅ No more verbose, outdated callbacks. ✅ Fully reactive streams for smooth network observation. ✅ Easy to integrate with Coroutines for modern Android apps. 🚀 Read the full article. “How to observe Internet in Android? 🔍 Is the Google Play Console enough for diagnosing app issues? The Google Play Console (GPC) is a valuable tool for monitoring app releases, but it has limitations in diagnosing issues. This blog post dives into those limitations and how Embrace can help you. Here's what you need to know about GPC limitations: ❌ Limited context: GPC only shows crashes and errors as aggregate data, not individual user experiences. ❌ Network blind spots: GPC offers minimal insights into network problems, crucial for mobile apps. ❌ Inconsistent stack traces: Stack traces, helpful for debugging, aren't always available in GPC. ❌Unrealistic testing environments: GPC relies on controlled environments unlike real-world user experiences. Embrace mobile monitoring bridges the gap: ✅ Session context: See individual user journeys and the actions leading up to errors. ✅ Network insights: Gain detailed information on individual network calls and problematic domains. ✅ Comprehensive troubleshooting: Get full context to diagnose issues effectively. ✅ Real-world testing: Understand app behavior in real user conditions, not just simulated environments. 🔗 Ready to level up your app diagnostics? Despite the convenience of public wifi (and the willingness of the everyday person to connect to it), underneath, to most of us IT professionals, there often lies a darker underbelly that carries a significant amount of risk. Sadly, most people - the general populous - who connect to public wifi hotspots do so for that very convenience and have no idea of the potential exposure they face from bad actors being able to intercept unencrypted traffic. Aside from the threats from things such as "evil twin" wifi, it is when we see stories like the one emerging from the UK overnight (see link immediately below), that the problems amplify tenfold. https://lnkd.in/eGwGppZE Using the Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 with WARP service should be something that every individual considers to help their personal life be safer and faster - and more private.
