Today is World Environment Day, a global platform for inspiring positive change. Beginning in 1973, this United Nations (UN) international day celebrates environmental action and the power of governments, businesses and individuals to create a more sustainable world. At Culligan, our parent company, part of our purpose is to help protect the planet. In late 2022 we partnered with global charity One Tree Planted, gifting all our employees 10 trees to plant in a reforestation project of their choosing. To date, over 100,000 trees have been planted, helping to offset 1,000,000kg (2,204,622 pounds) of CO2 emissions each year*. If you want a world that’s better for people and nature, you’ve made the right call.    We’ve been around a long time—since 1987. Happy Earth Day from Ecodemy! Earth Day is an annual awareness day to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of global events including 1 billion people, in more than 193 countries. Today is an opportunity to raise awareness and advocate for change around the issues most impacting our planet. There are lots of ways to make Earth Day, Everyday! Here are 10 ways that we like to celebrate, here at Ecodemy! -Spend time in nature at a local park, or by going for a walk/hike -Volunteer! Join a local trash clean-up in the community -Remove waste from the shoreline to help protect our Great Lakes! -Watch a documentary/read a book/listen to a podcast to learn more about the environment -Try a creative up-cycling project with an item you may have considered to be waste -Bring your own jars to your local refill store for snacks and grocery items -Sign a petition for an environmental cause that you feel passionate about! -Donate to an environmental justice organization -Take an online course at ecodemy.ca to learn more about topics related to sustainability! -Start your seeds! Wildflowers and Native Plants are great for our pollinators: Bonus points if you reuse pots and containers!

Sustainability is intrinsically embedded in our culture at QCIC. We are always looking at how we can support relevant projects as part of our commitments. This week is 'Pollinator Week 2024', an international celebration dedicated to the health and protection of pollinators. QCIC are proud to support this crucial cause and has donated to further the Pollinator Partnership's efforts, the organisation behind this wonderful initiative. This year's theme, "Vision 2040," envisions a future where pollinators thrive alongside flourishing ecosystems, robust economies, and sustainable agriculture. Pollinators such as bees, butterflies, moths, bats, beetles, and hummingbirds are indispensable to our food systems, natural beauty, and important to both our environment and our economy. We can all contribute to a healthier and greener future by adopting sustainable practices and protecting pollinator habitats. Environmentalists 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼 𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻.🥑 Here's why: • It's not going to happen. • Not anytime soon, anyway. • But that isn't really the point. The UK Climate Change Committee said we've got to reduce the amount of meat we eat by 20–50% in order for the UK to reach net zero by 2050. • We could do that by half of us going vegan. • Or, we could just all make some changes to our habits. • Changes that might turn out to be tasty and easy on our wallets, too.
