Since 1997, Greenfleet has focused on restoring habitat for Australia’s native wildlife, including the fascinating Greater Gliders.
These nocturnal marsupials thrive in the canopies of tall eucalypts, relying on young foliage high in nitrogen for food. However, their population is declining due to recent bushfires and extensive land clearing, prompting a national endangered status in 2022.
These unique creatures are mostly solitary with relatively small home ranges, and have a high demand for tree hollows. Hollows develop very slowly as native forests grow, which is one of many reasons we protect our forests for up to 100 years. 🌳
Greenfleet has several projects already actively focusing on rebuilding these vital ecosystems. One of these projects is located in Kinglake, Victoria. To find out more, visit: https://lnkd.in/gPdWNkpT
