Check out this thought-provoking video by Lia Haberman It’s no secret that many kids today dream of becoming influencers and digital creators. And for a lot of parents, this sparks a mix of excitement and fear—fear of social media, losing control, and the risks involved. But here’s my unpopular opinion: kids who want to become creators are actually learning incredibly valuable skills. From video editing and copywriting to public speaking, creativity, handling negative feedback, and mastering tech tools like AI, these are all skills that will be in demand no matter what career path they choose later in life. When my daughter started her own YouTube channel posting stories from the game TocaBoca, I saw firsthand how she developed these skills. She creates stories, edits videos, collaborates with other kids, and is constantly experimenting and coming up with new ideas. Instead of forbidding, it’s better to educate, guide, and teach. As YouTube's recent report showed, most younger generations see themselves as creators, and honestly, I think that’s fantastic. #influencermarketing #creatorseconomy
“It’s probably riskier if your kid wants to open a restaurant than become a creator.” Nobody said being a creator is easy but there are certain strategic considerations than can help mitigate the risk. A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of representing 7shifts on Cali BBQ Media's podcast on Digital Schedules 📅 In this podcast, I shared insights on how digitizing your restaurant schedule can help improve efficiency and employee satisfaction. If we're not implementing better systems to make our day-to-day run more effectively, we're going to fall behind in the fast-paced world we live in. Pen and paper, janky Excel sheets, and managing time off requests via WhatsApp groups just no longer cut it. Going digital with your scheduling is really the first step to improving efficiency in your restaurant. “The first step is if you’re not using anything digital today, what are you doing? We definitely need to digitize and help you to further increase the efficiency in your restaurants. Moving away from pen and paper and Excel is really that first step.” – Roxanne Bilski Beyond simply creating a digital schedule, there is so much more to consider. Are your employees finding it difficult to submit their availability and time off? Can they easily get a shift covered if something comes up last minute? Digitized scheduling tools, like 7shifts, allow employees to easily submit their availability and time off, and swap shifts with their teammates by dropping or picking up shifts easily in-app. It makes Managers' lives easier by having these dates embedded into the schedule so that employees are not accidentally scheduled for shifts they aren't available to work. I especially loved the story Jason Berkowitz (17:10-23:19) shared where his nephew, who was working at his first restaurant job, experienced challenges with scheduling time off, causing anger, disruption, and lack of service. Examples like this lead to frustration for restaurant Managers, and their teams, which decreases employee satisfaction, and may lead to higher turnover. 🎧 You can listen to the full episode here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gqhUrt9X If you're interested in learning more about how 7shifts can help you improve efficiency in your restaurant, feel free to send me a DM 📩
