The main reason I was upset when the Rite Aid on the corner of my street closed, was because I used it, more often than I would like to admit, for a quick beer run. Even accounting for the wait for a member of staff to open the beer fridge, it was by far the most economical and fast solution to an acute beer shortage. I am fortunate enough not to have to pick up a prescription very frequently, and if I do, I don't mind walking a little bit longer to a CVS. But the fact that I still do is interesting in itself, as in, why has someone as tech savvy as myself, not switched to a fully online pharmacy? The article that's below gives an interesting view on why pharmacies are struggling right now in the US. I would summarize it as 1) The PBMs but too much pressure on margins. 2) Pharmacies are expensive to run and without the human connection, at these bigger change chains, there is little to distinguish them from online services who actually deliver to your doorstep. 3) The decline of retail as a whole in the US, which in part is caused by theft, making it much harder to do actual shopping in a physical store. All these factors add up and eat into the already thin margins. Long story short, tough times for pharmacies in the US and Retail as a whole, and personally I expect the shift to online for both retail and Pharmacy will only continue to pick up pace. Which leaves me with the question of where to go for last minute beer runs... And on a more serious note, where do we go from here for near-home study activities? The whole point is that those require physical locations with some level of medical infrastructure. Nail salons?

Reflecting on 420: Dispensary Insights Recently, I had the privilege of touring a few dispensaries and reviewing several other's online platforms. Here are some reflections I'd like to share: To those who encountered issues with Dutchie on such a significant day, my sincerest apologies. It's disheartening when circumstances beyond our control impact customer experience, especially on a holiday as pivotal as 420. While exploring various dispensaries, I stumbled upon some fantastic deals on specific medicated products and even storewide sales. However, I couldn't help but ponder why accessories under $50 weren't bundled in. It feels like a missed opportunity to elevate both the brand and customer experiences. Additionally, I noticed that some MSOs opted to exclude ancillary/accessories from their sales. This decision left me curious. For many, 420 isn't merely a holiday; it's an opportunity for individuals to upgrade their smoking essentials or have an immediate need for convenience consumables to share with friends and doesn't want to drive down the road to a Smoke Shop after waiting in line for 30 minutes+. So, where were the bundle deals and GWPs (Gifts With Purchase)? Budtenders play a pivotal role in fostering rapport and trust with customers. By equipping them with the tools for success, we can enrich the value proposition through convenience and trust. To decision-makers in the industry, now is the opportune moment to reflect on what worked well and what might have been overlooked during the 420 holiday. Let's harness these insights to better prepare for the next significant holiday, such as 7/10. By placing orders early, we can circumvent unnecessary rush shipping costs and extend those savings to your customers. Let's continue to innovate and refine to elevate the cannabis experience for all. Our Expert Insights include a call with a former VP at Walgreens from last July giving their perspective on the challenges of scaling and overall thoughts on the industry. Call Summary: 1.
