I wrote this post 8 years ago and looking at the Rape Crisis England & Wales petition it is more pertinent now than ever. #SpecialistSupportServices #BreakingTheCycle #SOB Just attended yet another meeting to discuss lack of funding for specialist support services for adult services of #childsexualabuse Until I started really actively working in this area I never fully appreciated how hard it has been for the voluntary specialist support service sector or the 3rd sector to get funding for the services they provide. The situation has been desperate for decades and even more of a problem now with more and more victims & survivors disclosing and needing specialist support. The statutory sector have tried hard to offer what they think victims & survivors need but they have got it completely wrong. It's inadequate, underfunded and too generalist. Until the Government, the Mayor & Health professionals take on board... *The scale of the problem adult survivors of non recent childabuse *The impact of CSA on individuals *The lack of specialist support services *The lack of funding We have a major challenge on our hands and the cost to NHS services is just going to explode. What's needed? The powers that be need to TRULY listen to the needs of victims & survivors and not just do tick box exercises that suit their agenda's. Work with specialist support services from the voluntary sector to create best pathways of care for victims & survivors to access. Invest into adequate provision of specialist support services (not just 6 weeks of CBT if your lucky!) Investment needs to be consistent and made on a rolling basis so that the voluntary sector are not relying donations and spending many manhours applying for funding that there is no guarantee of getting! This is a cross political party issue that needs to be addressed urgently. I know many of my colleagues have been fighting for years for change.... well we are not giving up. There are lives at stake, individuals health & wellbeing at stake, family relationships at stake. Chris x Http://https://lnkd.in/df8JFk7 #ActOnIICSA Independent Inquiry Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA)

You want to prepare and be ready for everything, but are your children prepared if there is a disaster or emergency? In the event of an emergency, would your child/children know what to do? Start small with your kids, such as ensuring your child knows how and when to call 911, identify themselves, and provide their location. Also, familiarize them with emergency alerts explaining the sound of different sirens and what to do when your child hears each one.
