Important upcoming changes to how Social Security evaluates past relevant work (“PRW”). For decades, the Social Security Administration has used a 15-year look back period to determine PRW. That look back period will change to only 5 years on June 8, 2024. Here’s the full rule from the Federal Register—https://lnkd.in/gpu8icD8

From SSA: "Due to widespread IT outages due to the global Microsoft and Crowdstrike issues, local Social Security offices are closed to the public today. Our phone line - 800-772-1213 - remains open as are most online services at ssa.gov. We appreciate your patience while we work to restore services as quickly as possible. For people who are deaf or hard of hearing and use TTY, our TTY line remains open - 800-325-0778." By the way, I find this phone line unhelpful. SSA has informed NOSSCR that they are still troubleshooting - but it currently appears that calls to local offices are operating as expected, while some applications may be impacted, affecting the technician’s ability to process applications. We encourage patience as they sort out their operational capacity and we will provide updates as we learn more."
