In the world of #concrete, the Performance-Based Temperature Differential Limit (PBTDL) method is revolutionizing the way we approach #massconcrete #construction. 🌡️ Forget the conventional 35°F limit – the PBTDL approach enables an increased allowed temperature differential, while still maintaining a safe threshold, through monitoring of the maximum temperature and temperature differentials. Read the full blog post on our website to dive deeper into the PBTDL method and discover how it's transforming the way we build. https://lnkd.in/ej89YPUk

V-ROD GFRP Bars: Exploring Advanced Tunnel Reinforcement 📰 Read our V-ROD's article on tunnel lining recently presented at the TAC conference in Montreal on the structural performance of precast concrete tunnel lining (PCTL) segments. This study is part of a large project conducted in collaboration with the @University of Sherbrooke, marking a significant step toward corrosion-resistant and high-strength tunnel infrastructure. V-ROD GFRP-reinforced tunnel linings were tested under different load conditions, from production and transient states until construction and extreme service. The research outcomes highlighted several key benefits of GFRP reinforcement in tunnel applications. Unlike steel, V-ROD GFRP bars offer - Exceptional corrosion resistance, - Reduced weight, - Compliance with major standards (CSA, ACI, AASHTO). These attributes make them an ideal choice for harsh underground environments where durability is paramount. Experimental results have shown stable cyclic behavior, demonstrating GFRP's potential as a sustainable, long-lasting alternative in tunnel construction. As infrastructure demands resilience against corrosive environments, V-ROD GFRP bars' properties enable us to engineer more sustainable tunnels, setting a new standard for tunnel safety and durability. Discover more in our full article www.fiberglassrebar.com (?) Let's continue to innovate and build infrastructure that stands the test of time. #Tunneling #Infrastructure #Sustainability #GFRP #Engineering #PultrallVROD

The Second National Symposium on #GFRP Bars is underway today at the University of Southern Queensland. The focus is: Advanced Reinforcing Materials for Longevity of Australian Infrastructure. It's great to see Maritime Safety Queensland, Department of Transport and Main Roads and the University of Southern Queensland supporting GFRP rebar in Australia. In applications where steel fails, GFRP rebar can provide an improved design life-cycle without the expensive maintenance costs associated with corrosion and concrete spalling. Mateenbar is the world's leading durable fibreglass rebar with 30 years of proven project success in Australia and beyond. https://lnkd.in/gVtUWQfP #durablestructures #GFRPbars #fibreglassrebar #ASTM #ACI #australiastandards

🚆 Fascinating GFRP rebar case study from Miami's Metrorail AirportLink: How glass fibre-reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebar is revolutionizing transit infrastructure! Electrical isolation was enhanced by using glass-fibre-reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforcing bars, making the structural connections between guideway structures, and cast-in-place pedestals and plinth pads. Key benefits discovered: • Eliminates stray current corrosion issues common in steel rebar • Can be easily cut and modified on-site with basic tools • Perfect for rail systems where electrical isolation is crucial • Allows simpler prefabrication of reinforcement cages Thanks to Doug Gremel for his insights. Publication: Concrete International 2012 What other applications of GFRP have you seen in infrastructure projects lately? #Construction #Infrastructure Mateenbar Pultron Composites Ltd #Engineering #Innovation #Sustainability #nonconductive IKK Mateenbar #nonelectromagnetic #nonmagnetic

There are clear benefits to be had from Design for Manufacture and Assembly (#DfMA) or Modern Methods of Construction (#MMC), including potential #wholelifecarbon benefits. In this article, Heleni Pantelidou ,Sahil Limbu and I explore some of the potential #carbon benefits for #structures, #facades and #MEP when DfMA/MMC is done well. It also points out how you may end up unintentionally adding whole life carbon, unless particular aspects are kept in mind, and actively managed, when adopting DfMA/MMC. You can access the article here https://lnkd.in/egviVb-X or feel free to get in touch. #carbonmanagement

I find it highly gratifying that most of the state experiences reference combined aggregate grading. No matter whether they reference the “Shilstone” chart, the Tarantula curve, Haystack (8-18) or the 0.45 power curve, combined grading is important. An optimized grading can often result in a 20-30% decrease in cement demand. It is in the best interests of DOTs and building owners to have a way to require attention to combined grading.
Hot off the press! Check out this TRB Circular related to the Performance Engineered Mixture (PEM) experiences from Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, and North Carolina. https://lnkd.in/dBvKkqT4 Thank you Jagan Gudimettla, P.E. and the six state DOTs for your work putting this together!
