Meet the #WIL Fellow! Ria Maharaj Public Health California State University - East Bay Ria Maharaj, a fourth-year undergraduate student in the Department of Public Health, is currently engaged as a research assistant in multiple studies focusing on under-represented South Asian communities. Her primary interest lies in her own Indo-Fijian community, as it is considered a diaspora. Ria aspires to become a practicing Physician Assistant, with a keen appreciation for community outreach and a desire to forge personal connections with community members. Presently interning at Hume, a behavioral wellness clinic, Ria takes an active role in hosting workshops tailored for the South Asian community. These sessions aim to initiate open conversations about mental health and emotional well-being without judgment, reflecting her commitment to fostering understanding and support within her community. About Ria's Social Impact Project at WIL- Home health care agencies are organizations that provide a wide range of medical and non-medical services to individuals in their own homes. These services are typically provided to people who are elderly, disabled, chronically ill, or recovering from illness or surgery and who need assistance with activities of daily living. Home health care agencies employ a variety of healthcare professionals, including nurses, therapists, aides, and social workers, who deliver care tailored to the specific needs of each client Care Indeed is one of the many Home Health agencies that they provide such resources to a diverse group of clients. Many home health care agencies make commitments in supporting their seniors as well as thier families to the best of the agencies abilities, however what remains unknown is just how accurately agencies live up to the expectations that are essentially made about their services to both clients and loved ones. This spring Ria became Care Indeed’s Research Analyst in search of finding out, what does quality mean to clients and how well has Care Indeed met those expectations.
