📢MBA with Specialism in Sustainable Energy Futures 💻FIND OUT MORE AT OUR WEBINAR ON THURSDAY 16TH JANUARY 16:00 🚀We’ll explore the benefits of pursuing an MBA and discuss how this programme can elevate careers in utilities. Email karen@thewun.co.uk to book you place. 🎓As part of our commitment to developing and tackling gender imbalance in utilities, WUN and energy consultancy Clyde Ventures, are delighted to have secured an opportunity with the University of Strathclyde Business School. With over 50 years’ experience in developing a groundbreaking MBA programme, the triple accredited Strathclyde Business School is a major innovator in the field of business and management. Developed jointly by Strathclyde Business School and industry partners from the energy sector, the MBA with Specialism in Sustainable Energy Futures, builds on the highly successful Strathclyde MBA and sees leading academics work with industry partners to tackle some of the key issues facing the industry right now, exploring future trends and development and preparing the workforce of the future. 🌐The programme will help decision-makers to develop a systems-thinking perspective for their organisations, mindful that place-based approaches can support collaborations towards net zero and a just transition towards more resilient communities. 💡Participants will have the opportunity to work alongside other leaders in their industry, across sectors and siloes, to develop holistic propositions and polices that can create policy change, social impact and social innovation. 📈If your organisation pays into the apprenticeship levy, some of the MBA fees could be drawn down from the levy fund. Most companies don’t fully utilise their apprenticeship levy pot, so we see this a great way to retain future leaders in your organisation, which is an increasing challenge to all of our partners. Still not sure ?– read the blog by Della Newton ENGIE as she reflects the impact of the MBA on her both professionally & personally https://lnkd.in/e-GGqEZJ #utilities #mba #inspiringwomen #career #sustainableenergy #WUN

Della Newton, UK Originator, Global Energy Management & Sales, ENGIE, has written a blog post about our Sustainable Energy Futures programme which incorporates MBA modules aimed at tackling challenges unique to the utilities industry as well as a Level 7 Systems Thinking Practitioner apprenticeship. She said, "The most transformative aspect of the MBA programme is undoubtedly the network and relationships forged with fellow students. "The MBA modules have accelerated my leadership development and capabilities. This programme offers a powerful combination of learning new concepts and gaining insights from classmates who have faced these challenges in real-life situations. This dual approach ensures that I am not only prepared for the complexities of senior roles but also equipped to handle them with confidence and competence." Today is Earth Day & I'd love to say "Happy, happy, hug a tree..." but things are so dire, for Earth, and on Earth. It is easy to feel hopeless, but what does give me hope are the #MBA applicants I work with who are determined to forge successful careers that help our planet out too. And we are not talking people trying to impress #admissions - but young, brilliant, driven future leaders who are taking action now. I've worked with the heir to one of the world's biggest companies dedicated to using her position to fight climate change, a rising star in the oil&gas sector who left to join a #sustainability consultancy & several i-bankers flocking towards climate finance. If you too want to use your MBA to help Earth, it is important to find the right #Bschool for your sustainability goals. While most programs have social impact offerings that include climate-focused resources and almost all have a branch of Net Impact on campus, here are some programs that are crushing it: Columbia Business School (Dean Costis Maglaras is widely lauded for his commitment to using business to combat climate change) has an amazing offer of "green" resources including the "Business & Climate Change Initiative" and is home to famed prof Bruce Usher, author of "Investing in the Era of Climate Change." #GSB students can "cross the street" to the Doerr School of Sustainability #UCBerkeley has long been known for its many courses tackling sustainability issues, all compiled in their "Haas Sustainability Curriculum." #NYUStern has a "Center for Sustainable Business" #MITSloan offers a "Sustainability Certificate" #Wharton has their "BEES" major (Business, Energy, Environment, Sustainability) #Tuck houses the Revers Center for Energy, Sustainability & Innovation And #Darden, #Fuqua Duke, #Ross, #Kellogg and #YaleSOM offer sustainability initiatives, majors, certificates and more. Across the pond, "Business Schools for Climate Leadership" is a collab of 8 top EU schools (IESE Business School, INSEAD, LBS, HEC Paris, Cambridge, Oxford, IMD, IE) committed to ensuring the tens of thousands of MBA students they train understand the role of business in climate change. With the world's best business schools embedding climate and sustainability into their MBAs + the world's brightest students flocking to them, maybe there is some hope after all.
