It can feel uncomfortable to talk about sexual and reproductive health, even with a doctor. But it’s more than just sex or reproductive organs—it’s about understanding your body, relationships, consent, periods, and contraception. Knowing about your health is important, whether or not you're sexually active or plan to have children. Accessing non-judgmental, supportive care helps you stay in control. Through the Health in My Language program, our educators provide information on: • Contraception options • Safer sex • Pregnancy choices • Menopause For more details or to attend a session, please contact a.khan@womenshealthmatters.org.au

It's #NationalWomensHealthWeek and today is Reproductive Health Day! At 3Daughters, we're focused on Evolutionary Healthcare for Women. Our first evolution is a frameless, magnetic, nonhormonal IUD for long-acting contraception. Our goal is to radically transform the IUD experience by eliminating the major barrier to adoption, insertion pain, which creates a 'fear factor' and prevents women from selecting one of the most effective forms of birth control. We're dedicated to providing women with more and better contraceptive options, empowering them to take charge of their reproductive health. #contraception #womenshealth #reproductivehealth #officeonwomenshealth

As we wrap up Domestic Violence Awareness Month, it’s crucial to remember that so many survivors’ stories remain unseen. Behind closed doors, many are struggling in silence, and often, the signs of abuse go unnoticed. This month, creating content for Futures Without Violence has opened my eyes to the layers of trauma, resilience, and strength within survivor stories. It’s been a privilege to amplify these voices and share resources that can help! If you think someone in your life might be struggling, please reach out with compassion. Offering support can be as simple as listening without judgment, validating their experience, and connecting them with resources. We can make a difference by being present, spreading awareness, and showing support year-round! 💜 ☎️ If you or someone you know needs help, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233)
Reproductive and sexual coercion involves pressuring or manipulating a partner’s choices related to sex, pregnancy and health. This can include sabotaging contraception, forcing sexual activity, or controlling decisions about reproductive care-- and that it is NEVER okay. Everyone has the right to make informed choices about their body, without pressure or manipulation. As a healthcare provider, you have the power to make a difference. A recent survey found that 56% of Gen Z use TikTok for advice on wellness, and 1 in 3 don’t double-check or verify the information that they get via TikTok. With the growing mis- and disinformation on reproductive health, including birth control, young women may be more influenced by what they see online than evidence-based information from medical sources like a healthcare professional. What’s at stake? That is a question Dr. Charlotte Owens, MD, FACOG, Head of Medical Affairs & Outcomes Research at Organon and a board-certified OB/GYN, answers. "𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙮; 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚." Despite the wealth of options available today, many individuals still face confusion or stigma when it comes to choosing the right contraceptive method. Let’s break it down: 📍Contraception is personal: What works for one person may not work for another. Understanding your body, lifestyle, and health needs is key. 📍Knowledge is power: From pills to implants, IUDs to condoms, each method has its benefits and considerations. Educating yourself,or seeking guidance from a healthcare professional and ensure you make informed choices. 📍Stigma has no place here: Conversations about contraception should be open, judgment-free, and based on facts. When we demystify contraception, we create a world where people feel confident and empowered to prioritize their sexual and reproductive health. PS: Let’s normalize these discussions and encourage informed decisions for a healthier, more empowered society. What steps can we take to make contraception conversations more inclusive and accessible? #Contraception #HealthChoices #ReproductiveHealth #SexualHealth #HealthEducation #PassionateComplete

Caribbean Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Week: October 14-20 This week is an important moment to mobilize collective action and renew our commitment to addressing adolescent pregnancy in the Caribbean, Latin America and The Caribbean holds the second-highest adolescent birth rate globally. 💡 To effectively reduce this rate, critical interventions include: 🔹 Provide accessible, adolescent-friendly sexual and reproductive health services. 🔹 Offer comprehensive sexual education for all adolescents. 🔹 Increase access to effective contraception. 🔹 Strengthen protection against sexual violence. By raising awareness and advocating for these solutions, we can create a future where every adolescent has the knowledge, resources, and opportunities to thrive. Let's come together as advocates for change. With collective effort, a world where every girl can grow, dream, and reach her full potential is possible. #AdolescentPregnancyPrevention #EndAdolescentPregnancy

In my latest column in The New Times (Rwanda), I look at the teen pregnancy crisis in #Rwanda and why the constant debate on contraception access is a diversion from the real issue. Contrary to common misconceptions, providing adolescents with access to contraceptives does not promote promiscuity but empowers them to make informed choices about their sexual health. Read my two cents on the issue and what I propose as possible solution here: https://buff.ly/3Q3KpPJ
