Gas becomes more and more important. Moreover, domestically or locally produced gas is the guarantor of energy security. Read our blog here: https://lnkd.in/dFuqx47c
Last Friday, the International Energy Agency (IEA) published a report that can make one think fondly of the “golden age of #gas”. Global gas demand is on the rise. Natural gas is and will remain for the foreseeable future, the major guarantor of global #energysecurity. The report also demonstrates the core #energy security value of domestic or at least regionally available gas production and regional infrastructure such as interconnectors. Energean has and will remain committed to rapid development of proven reserves towards production. Our interests are aligned with the sovereign and population. European #energypolicy makers might want to consider both energy security and the socio-economic value of heavy industry when considering gas / CCS related energy policy. Been a while since I scratched my #gasworks itch, but the IEA report last week jolted me out of my stupor. I've also been inspired by the great content and engagement being thrown out newly enhanced team International Gas Union - Menelaos (Mel) Ydreos, Mark McCrory, Ella Minty & Tatiana Khanberg Anyone that's been involved in #gas & #energy advocacy in the past few years (like them) knows that there is a clock ticking - there will be a major crunch due to a lack of gas liquidity combined with hitting a limit of effective renewable power. This is not a criticism of the transtion. It has to continue and be funded. But at the moment, there's a conflict between #energypolicy ambition, engineering reality and commercial returns. This is why gas is and remains vital for global energy security. #gasisgood #gasworks
