Seasoned and Saiged Community Kitchen Programs objective, is to have a social impact within our community by harnessing and understanding food waste, food poverty and the promotion of mental wellbeing. What is our mission? Our first mission is to allow members from all walks of life to join and attend SSCKP to form better relations with their community peers and become more aware of food waste. Understanding how surplus produce can alleviate the struggles of the cost-of-living crisis which many currently face. How will your money help us achieve this? 1. Food Poverty within our local community. 2. Open awareness to mental health and food insecurities. 3. Foster better relationships with food, oneself and our community. 4. Collaborate and network with other local organisations. 5. Sourcing land or open spaces to grow fresh produce. 6. Introduce training providers and work placements to those looking to get back to work. 7. Premises where we can open a Pantry for local businesses to donate produce to the community. 8. Community and fellowship is of high importance for us as an orginisation in South Africa

We increasingly see the need to address burn out in all sectors, but the non-profit sector is being hit especially hard. Shifting priorities, lack of flexible and reliable funds at a time when community needs are accelerating are a recipe for depleted staff, limited capacity and high turnover. This report from the Center for Effective Philanthropy highlights how some in philanthropy are recognizing and addressing this trend, but more focused attention on tending to the wholeness of folks working in community is required.

There are 1,672 Voluntary, Community + Faith Based groups, Social Enterprises & charities operating in Stockport (as of 2021). Food Banks, Toddler Groups, Mental Health support, Fitness Clubs, Animal Shelters, Befriending Cafes and so much more. An overwhelming majority of these groups cannot run without the support of dedicated volunteers. The Volunteer Hub is the legacy of the kindness of people from #Stockport, who stepped up at the start of the pandemic to #Volunteer their time and who continue to do so. Developed by Healthwatch Stockport and Sector3, in collaboration with the third sector, the hub shares volunteering opportunities for folks who want to help others and learn new skills.
