Small gestures at scale make a big impact, so why not consider what you could donate to the Old Fire Station’s Big Give campaign. https://lnkd.in/eFJ5QeVH People need a place to feel welcome, express ideas and passions, think through changing times, or escape into art, dance or a show. These opportunities often don’t exist for people with fewer resources, and the combination of Covid, the cost-of-living crisis and stretched frontline services means there are many people who are not being represented or included in the arts. Through working more inclusively, over the next year the Old Fire Station in Oxford expects a footfall of 25,000 people in our building. Some will come to see a show or join a workshop, some will be moving on from homelessness or social crises, others will be volunteers, trainees or refugee women working for Damascus Rose Kitchen. Our work helps people feel part of a community and less isolated, make connections and build networks, improve wellbeing and a sense of purpose, feel heard, represented and valued.

If you are a business wanting to give back to the local community, do consider helping someone with funded music lessons. The first things to go in a #costoflivingcrisis are music and sports activities for children. As families struggle to find money to pay the bills, spare money for music lessons and buying music equipment and instruments, is not a priority sadly. The benefits that music brings to #mentalwellbeing is priceless. After the pandemic, there are so many young people with #socialanxiety witnessed by teachers and those tutoring at music schools. #musiclessons should be accessible to everyone, regardless of economic background. #giveback #supportthearts #musicforall

Music is the heartbeat of sociability, and a safe music ecosystem is essential to revitalization of downtowns and city centers. Everyone should join in this study to document the value of live music and performances.

#SpotifyWrapped is BACK! That time of year when our feeds explode with colorful pie charts, top artists, and a very personal walk down musical memory lane. But Spotify Wrapped isn’t just a fun way to reflect. It’s a marketing masterpiece. It’s all about connection. Spotify takes cold, hard data and turns it into playful, shareable content that makes users think, “OMG, they get me.” And when people feel seen, they share. The result? Users doing the marketing for them. Charities, nonprofits, and social justice orgs - what if you could do the same? Instead of just sharing stats or facts, what if your data sparked joy, pride, or belonging? Volunteer hours, funds raised, lives impacted - your numbers have the power to tell incredible stories. So, while we all laugh at our cringe-worthy Wrapped results (don’t ask about mine), it’s worth thinking: how are you planning to wrap up your year on social?

Colchester Arts Centre is a great #ThirdPlace in the UK. Stephen Rohan writes on MyThirdPlace: "Colchester’s Arts Centre has been running since 1980 (one year before I was born) and is arguably one of Colchester’s most important creative spaces. The venue is run by a dedicated team of locals who have a passion for music, the arts and entertainment. As a focal point of the Colchester community, The Arts Centre engages in lots of outreach work that directly benefits Colchester residents and others. Current programmes include African Families UK which provides a space for African families to get together, and the second is the recently formed Gamechanger Pt 2, which aims to help those in often-neglected areas around Colchester and Tendring such as Jaywick. Ours is an industry that gives so much to society & indeed is incredibly rewarding for those who get the chance to enjoy being a part of it. However, it’s also an industry that places enormous stress & pressure on its community. For many the idea of having any semblance of a work/life balance when working in film & TV is antithetical. With this in mind, the work of the The Film and TV Charity has never been more crucial. They are the one organisation within our industry who are fully focussed on stepping in to help our colleagues when they are struggling.
