"Which industries actually value military experience?" This question from a transitioning E-7 stopped me in my tracks. After 16 years in HR and now coaching veterans, here's what I've learned really matters... Stop focusing only on defense contractors. Look where your skills solve problems. Your mission planning experience? 🔸Tech companies need project managers who can handle complexity 🔸Healthcare systems want leaders who can manage chaos 🔸Manufacturing firms value people who can coordinate multiple teams Your equipment accountability? 🔸Financial firms need risk managers 🔸Tech companies want security specialists 🔸Supply chain companies value process experts Your training experience? 🔸Corporate training departments need developers 🔸Tech companies want implementation specialists 🔸Consulting firms seek people who can build teams Here's what most miss... It's not about finding companies that 'support veterans, it's about identifying where your military skills solve civilian business problems. Last month, an infantry squad leader landed a role as an operations manager at a major logistics company. Why? Because he showed how coordinating combat patrols prepared him for managing complex delivery schedules. Real example: 🔸Military Skill - Leading combat patrols in unpredictable environments 🔸Civilian Translation - Managing dynamic logistics operations 🔸Business Impact - Reduced delivery delays by 40% in the first 90 days 🔸Result - Promotion to regional operations manager within 6 months Remember, don't limit yourself to obvious veteran career paths. Your military experience and skills can solve problems across every industry. What skills from your military service could solve civilian business challenges? Share below, let's explore opportunities you might not have considered. #VeteranTransition #CareerDevelopment #JobSearch #CamoCareerCoach

A military leader is not a corporate manager. A corporate manager is not a military leader. Do the two have similar duties? 100% But leading in the military is Different than managing a civilian workforce. Here are a few ways they differ on the top of my mind - what are some that you see? Military - You don't have 2-week notice. The workforce is set for multiple years. Corporate - You can re-staff quickly when there is a vacant role, no need to wait months to backfill. Military - You can re-task and work people outside of their designated work roles. You are now going to work as a security guard, even though you are a sonar technician. Corporate - A person can freely exit the company at any time, for any reason. Military - Heavily structured, workforce is given 8+ weeks of training to become compliant within it. Corporate - You are concerned with profit and loss - it can drive decision making. Leaders are also forced into that role due to advancement; this isn't the same in the civilian sector.

Why you should hire a veteran! Military personnel are required to work in some of the most challenging environments in the world. They are required to adapt, improvise, think, and make life saving decisions in seconds, for that reason it’s important to review some of their key attributes: 1. Proven leadership skills- they manage diverse personnel, equipment valued in the millions, and are responsible for the development of the team they lead. 2. Adaptability - working 24 hour shifts, in all types of environments, with minute by minute shifting priorities, and learning and executing on the fly are just expectations every service member has experienced. 3. Communication- Moving thousands of personnel over hundreds of miles, and executing with pinpoint precision is something we practiced day over day. Working and getting things done with locals all over the world with limited knowledge of the language is something all military personnel have experienced. 4. Work ethic- we worked to win, putting everything on the line, with no excuses. 5. Diversity- In the military we worked with everyone on the planet, developed trust, and learned to respect others, so we could get the mission completed. 6 through infinity- unfortunately, their are not enough words to explain how much value veterans bring to an organization. This Veterans Day, make a conscious effort to thank a veteran, and when possible, do so by giving them the opportunity to start a new job in your organization, it’s a decision you will never regret.

What a great post on what Army Infantrymen bring to the table! After 22 years as an Army 1SG (Infantry/Airbone/Ranger), I transitioned into sales, a completely new arena for me! In the renewable energy sector, I closed $50 million in deals, and now I proudly manage Army and SOCOM accounts for EZ STAK. Leadership and sales are synonymous, they’re both about influencing and inspiring action. As Infantrymen, we’ve spent our careers leading teams, adapting under pressure, and finding solutions to complex problems. That’s #grit. That’s #resilience. And that’s what makes infantrymen highly effective in the sales world. Sales isn’t always just about numbers; it’s about building #trust, asking the right questions, and delivering results. Infantrymen know how to adapt quickly, execute efficiently, and influence outcomes in any environment. what I would say to my fellow Infantrymen considering a new path is you’ve already mastered the hardest leadership challenges out there. Apply that same focus and drive to sales, and you’ll thrive. The skills you’ve developed in training and combat, translate directly into success in this field. Let's Go! You motivated me this morning Tim Best! Thank you! Cameron Gemoets, PMP, CSM Christopher Ficht Danny Thurman Mario Cockrell Ian Brambs Peter Rooney Shane Lawrenson Robert “Rob” Gonzalez

What does an Army infantryman know about succeeding in sales? A lot more than you might think. Many of the skills that drive success in sales are the same ones service members practice daily: ✅ Solving problems ✅ Asking the right questions ✅ Listening well ✅ Following processes ✅ Building resilience I recently spoke with a former Army infantryman who had no sales experience when he left the military. After completing just one upskilling program in technical sales, he landed a great job. Today, he’s thriving in a remote sales role, making a great living - and, most importantly, he’s discovered that he loves this career pathway. Transitioning service members, your career opportunities aren’t limited by your past experiences - they’re far broader than you realize because of the skills you’ve honed. Stay open-minded about where your skills can take you, and reimagine how they can apply to new and exciting career paths.
