Following Amazon's inspiring announcement to hire 100,000 veterans and military spouses, I believe it's time for Malaysia to embark on a similar initiative. Our beloved veterans deserve more than just our gratitude – they deserve opportunities to thrive in civilian life. By creating programs to employ veterans, not only are we honoring their service to our country, but we're also providing them with the means to sustain themselves beyond their monthly pension. This initiative could be a game-changer, offering meaningful employment and a sense of purpose to those who have sacrificed so much for our nation. But let's not stop there. Let's extend this approach to include ex-convicts as well. Everyone deserves a second chance, free from bias or discrimination. By offering employment opportunities to individuals who have made mistakes in the past, we're not only helping them rebuild their lives but also strengthening our communities by fostering inclusivity and reducing recidivism. Let's work together to create a Malaysia where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background. It's time to turn gratitude into action. #EmploymentOpportunities #Veterans #SecondChances #Inclusivity #Malaysia
Proud of Amazon’s continued support of veterans and military spouses. In 2021, we committed to hire 100K veterans and spouses by 2024 because of the valuable skills and experiences they bring to the table. Thrilled to say, we’ve already surpassed that goal and are working to hire even more talented veterans. Grateful to call so many our teammates, and very appreciative of all they deliver for customers!

A bit in the future but figured it would be important to get this out to my DoD/Gov network. I’ll be participating in Candorful’s Veteran’s Day Fireside Chat as a panel member along with some great individuals like Jennifer Nestor (Exiger), Brian Memoli (Gemaire Distributors), and Skyler Chi (Exiger). We will cover topics like Supply Chain, Gen AI, how we made the transition, and some "off the cuff" Q&A. Candorful is a national non-profit organization that provides essential support to transitioning military members, veterans, and military spouses. Their goal is to close the gap between transitioning military members and the job market. They connect job seekers with coaches to produce interview-ready veteran, transitioning military, and military spouse candidates for the civilian workforce. In short, a great organization that leverages people/companies who want to "give back" to the larger DoD/Gov community. This Veteran’s Day, let’s focus on the untapped potential in our workforce. As we honor the service of veterans across the nation, it’s crucial to recognize the immense value they can bring to our civilian industries. Recent research by McKinsey & Company underscores a significant opportunity for both U.S. veterans and employers alike. Veterans possess a unique set of skills honed through their military experience—skills that are often underutilized in the civilian workforce. From technical expertise and operational precision to exceptional leadership and resilience, veterans are well-equipped to meet the challenges of today’s rapidly evolving job market. However, many veterans face hurdles transitioning to civilian roles, particularly those without a four-year degree. These veterans often encounter a gap in employment that doesn’t just affect them individually—according to McKinsey, bridging this gap could add as much as $15 billion to the U.S. economy over a decade. The Center of Supply Chain Excellence at Saint Louis University is committed to bridging this gap. We advocate for a skills-based hiring approach that recognizes the qualifications veterans bring and aligns with the needs of industries facing labor shortages, such as infrastructure and manufacturing. On this Veteran’s Day, let’s pledge to transform our appreciation for military service into active workplace support. Let’s integrate and leverage the remarkable capabilities of our veterans to enhance our workforce, driving innovation and growth in the supply chain industry and beyond. #VeteransDay #SupplyChainExcellence #HiringVeterans #SkillsBasedHiring #McKinsey
