This week marks #WorldHydrogenWeek, an ideal time to spotlight the transformative potential of the green hydrogen industry. As we strive for decarbonization and energy independence, green hydrogen is set to play a pivotal role in the European Union's ambitious goals. ➡️ According to the latest report from the International Energy Agency (IEA), Europe is projected to produce 25% of the world's green hydrogen by 2030, with Spain leading the charge at an impressive 20%, equivalent to around 1.6 million tons annually. ➡️At CEPSA, we're thrilled to announce that we've just received the Environmental Impact Assessment Permit from Junta de Andalucía for our 400 MW electrolyzer plant by our La Rábida Energy Park. This crucial milestone paves the way for the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley, complementing our ongoing construction of the HR3 steam reformer, which will generate green hydrogen from locally sourced biogases. ➡️Recognized by the European Commission as a Project of Common Interest (PCI), our initiative ensures expedited permitting, priority access to infrastructure, and vital institutional support, further strengthening our efforts. Our project aims to replace the grey hydrogen currently utilized in Huelva with fully decarbonized green hydrogen, benefiting not only our operations but also our industrial partners like Fertiberia. Additionally, we’re committed to decarbonizing heavy transportation, including aviation and maritime sectors, by producing sustainable hydrogen derivatives such as SAF (sustainable aviation fuel), HVO, e-methanol, and e-ammonia. Let’s continue to push boundaries and build a sustainable future! #WeAreInMotion #EnergyTransition #Cepsa

Great news today: Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has granted a funding commitment of 124.9M EUR for RWE's 50MW green hydrogen project Eemshydrogen! An essential step forward with a big compliment to the team: Lijs Groenendaal, Bart Mommers, Tim-Tijn Scherpenhuijsen, Michel Groeneveld and many others. Delivery of green hydrogen from Eemshydrogen will significantly contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions of industrial players in the Eemshaven region and beyond. Also, with projects like this, we're moving towards the Dutch ambition of gigawatt-scale green hydrogen production by the 2030's. Alongside this funding component, clarity on REDIII implementation and EU standards for grid fee relief will truly help to kick the Dutch hydrogen market into gear. #H2Diplomacy #FutureIsNow #Certification of green hydrogen is crucial for ensuring its sustainability and quality throughout the value chain. 🇧🇪Belgium is an ideal partner for this due to its strategic location, strong commitment to sustainability, and advanced infrastructure. As a key player in the European Union, Belgium can indeed facilitate the adoption of standardized certification processes, ensuring transparency and trust in the green hydrogen market. Additionally, Belgium's expertise in renewable energy technologies and its established partnerships with industry leaders make it well-positioned to drive innovation and collaboration in the green hydrogen sector. After a precertification pilot study, the HYPORT Duqm green hydrogen project concept is now ready for full certification in compliance with the latest EU regulations for green hydrogen and green ammonia production. The precertification was carried out by HINICIO, a leading consultancy firm focused on sustainable energy, industry, and transportation. Crucially, this paves the way for the green ammonia to be certified as ‘Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin’ (RFNBO). This certification means that HYPORT Duqm can be sure that its green molecules qualify for import into the EU and clients, at the same time, are guaranteed that they have been sustainably produced. HYPORT Duqm’s green molecules will be shipped to customers in Europe and other countries. Therefore, a robust and transparent certification scheme is essential to support clients and ultimately, the green energy transition. To obtain compliance with the regulations HYPORT Duqm has to meet very strict requirements on how the molecules are produced, as well as the GHG footprint when they are delivered to the end-user. HYPORT Duqm is being jointly developed by DEME Concessions and Omani energy company OQ. Initially, the JV partners will establish a production facility with a 500 MW electrolysis capacity. In 2023, the European Commission published two delegated acts outlining detailed rules on the EU definition of renewable hydrogen. The first act defines under which conditions hydrogen, hydrogen-based fuels or other energy carriers can be considered as RFNBOs. The second act provided a methodology for calculating life-cycle GHG emissions for RFNBOs. The announcement was made during last week's International Hydrogen Colloquium in Liège, held under the auspices of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union. #greenhydrogen #hyport #duqm #energytransition

Thank you to the Lisbon Energy Summit for inviting #kbr to participate in this week's event and the panel discussion on the role of #greenammonia for the hydrogen economy. It was great to discuss with our panel moderator Alberto Litta Modignani and fellow panelists Rogaciano Rebelo, Eunice Ribeiro and Sundus Cordelia Ramli, and we all agreed ammonia will be a key molecule for a succesfull #energytransition. Some of the key points from the discussion: 1. Green ammonia will play a very significant role as #energyvector to support #decarbonization across various industry sector due to established technology and operational know-how as well as established transportation and infrastructure to further build upon. 2. Reducing cost will be key, which requires scaling and thus projects moving forward to further establish and grow the supply chain, as well as project specific optimized integrated plant designs and concept and we at KBR are offering such optimized integrated concepts. 3. While regulation and funding mechanisms such as recent awards from the European hydrogen bank will help, ultimately we have to accept that green hydrogen and green ammonia will require premiums on prices versus fossil fuel based products to be paid and all consumers utlimately have to pay more to enable the energy transition. It will be interesting to see which sector will be the first mover and enabler in this respect. At KBR we are committed to the Energy transition and #Wedeliver #NetZero Aman Ahmad,Hari Ravindran, Rakesh Singh, Henrik Surrow Larsen, Paolo Brunengo, Rafał Bernat, Raimon Perea Marin, Rohit Khurana, Bernd Haveresch, Mona Bhagat, Brian Fuller, Gonzalo Baillo

➡️ Partners of the NAHV - North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley have gathered in Rijeka at the annual Consortium meeting to review the implementation of key projects, assess risks along the way and focus on integration into their respective social and industrial environments. 🌍 NAHV is a transnational initiative funded through the Programme Horizon Europe, comprising 37 project partners from three countries: Croatia, Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region of Italy, and Slovenia. 💡 Altogether, 17 industrial “testbed” projects are being developed in all three partner countries. The key aim of this ambitious initiative is to create a market for green hydrogen on both the demand and supply sides, making it a competitive energy source for the future. Key industry players from all three countries will develop pilot projects to produce up to 5,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year from renewable energy sources, destined for energy storage, distribution and use. It is expected that some 20% of the produced renewable hydrogen will be exchanged between the participating countries, thus creating a primary regional market for hydrogen. By introducing advanced hydrogen technologies and developing skills and infrastructure, the partnership also pursues other key objectives of the European Green Deal. In particular, the NAHV testbed projects address the decarbonisation of important industrial sectors such as steel, cement and glass production, and provide sustainable land and maritime transport solutions linked to reducing the carbon footprint. ⚡ At MARITIME CENTER OF EXCELLENCE we’re proud to be part of this ambitious initiative and are committed to the project with our valuable partners! 🔗 You are welcome to visit the NAHV home page for more info on the initiative: www.nahv.eu 📄 To read the full press release, visit: https://lnkd.in/dmkrfxra #NAHV #Greendeal #MCOE #hydrogen
