🌽 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗮'𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 (𝗙𝗥𝗔) 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆! 🌽 The FRA has recently announced a new initiative to sell maize in smaller denominations of 25kg and 10kg bags. This welcome move has the potential to significantly improve food security in many communities, particularly those facing drought-induced hardships. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 Zambia is currently experiencing its worst drought on record, impacting over 2 million people. This has led to reduced maize production and a subsequent rise in food prices, placing a strain on vulnerable households' ability to afford basic necessities. The FRA's initiative addresses this challenge by making maize more accessible. By offering smaller and more affordable packages, the FRA is enabling families to purchase the maize they need without the financial burden of buying a 50kg bag. 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝘼𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮: Smaller packages allow families to buy what they need, reducing food waste and making it easier to manage household budgets. 💸 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝘼𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨: This initiative can broaden access to maize in communities, especially those in remote areas where transportation costs might limit purchasing larger quantities. 🏞️ 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙨: The FRA's effort complements existing social safety net programs by providing a critical food source alongside other forms of assistance. 🤝 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 The FRA's initiative is a positive step towards mitigating food insecurity in Zambia. Many people are unaware that Kenya is a leading tea producer despite over 500,000 small-scale farmers cultivating, harvesting, and exporting more than 450,000 tons annually. This makes Kenya the largest exporter of black tea. Positioned along the equator, Kenya benefits from year-round sunshine, enabling nearly daily tea plucking. At elevations exceeding 2,000 meters, Kenya boasts the highest tea gardens in Africa, where nutrient-rich volcanic soil contributes to producing some of the most flavorful tea globally. Yesterday we celebrated 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲! The importance of food in our lives and communities is closely linked to one of the world’s most pressing challenges: 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫. Providing an equitable access to nutrition must be our collective responsibility, whether through supporting local farmers, reducing food waste or fostering sustainable methods for agriculture. A great example of this is the Sanku organization, which provides support to small and medium – scale millers in Africa, enabling them to fortify their flour in a sustainable manner. Bayer Foundation is one of the partners that supports Sanku to expand its impact in Kenya, partnering with additional 400 millers. 🌍 Tackling Food Insecurity in Nigeria: VTS 9.0 Food Bank Project- "Leave No One Behind" (LNOB) 🍚🍅 Food insecurity continues to pose a serious threat in Nigeria, with millions struggling to access daily meals. On September 7, 2024, Voice to the Street (VTS) took a decisive step to address this challenge by executing the VTS 9.0 Food Bank Project, "Leave No One Behind" (LNOB). We not only distributed essential food items to 100 families in Ijora Badia, Lagos, but also provided education on sustainable solutions to ensure long-term food security. In food boxes we packed food supplies for 100 families. The Donated Items we received from our partner Lagos Food Bank: - 2 bags of rice - 1 carton of Addmie noodles - 3 cartons of Kortex sanitary pads VTS supplemented these with the following items: - 4 additional bags of rice - Bottles of vegetable oil - Packs of spaghetti - Packs of tomato paste - Bags of salt - Cartons of seasoning cubes While these items provided immediate relief to the community, the LNOB project went further by educating over 100 street children and their parents on: - Sustainable agriculture practices - Improved nutrition - Resilient agricultural systems to increase food production This initiative directly addressed SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), and SDG 4 (Quality Education), focusing on Target 2.2 (ending all forms of malnutrition) and Target 2.4 (ensuring sustainable food production systems). By tackling issues like stunting and malnutrition, we empowered these communities to build a foundation for lasting food security. Together, we made a meaningful impact in the lives of Nigeria's most vulnerable families. Cassava is a basic food in Nigeria. It is widely produced and consumed food. Cassava is vital to Nigeria's economy as the country is the world's largest producer. Although Nigeria is the largest producer of Cassava in the world according to FAO, we are still struggling with low yields, ranging from 7 to 11 tons of cassava per hectare, compared to Ghana, Indonesia, and Thailand, which lead with 20 tons per hectare. To address food insecurity problem for the Nigerian Popolation in cassava production among rural small-scale farmers with limited land, we can start by raising awareness about modern techniques for growing cassava to increase yield. By doing this, we will double the income of small scale farmers in rural communities like Eruwa Town, and we can boost food production to meet the needs of our country's growing population. This led Palmira Farmtrade Company to launch an initiative called @ruralfoodsecure , where we train small-scale farmers the modern techniques using the Farmer Field School approach, an informal, field-based learning method for groups of small-scale farmers in rural communities. 🌽 After 14 years of growing vitamin A maize, a community in Zambia is still reaping the benefits with healthier families, improved livelihoods, and enhanced food security. 👩🏾 Women are change agents and at the frontlines when it comes to addressing malnutrition in vulnerable communities, and Kafue district, Lusaka Province, Zambia, is a perfect example. The Chikoka Women’s Group planted orange maize for the first time in 2010 when HarvestPlus introduced the vitamin A-rich variety to the region. We continue to work with them and the community by providing biofortified seeds and offering training on recommended agronomic practices while raising awareness among farmers. We are really proud of such an organization whom are working tirelessly inside and outside Pakistan and they have gained a special level of trust among the people of the country, this is truly amazing that every segment of the society is impressed with their level of support and work on the ground, even in Pakistan they have helped the people when this country was hit by the most devastated floods of its history, they have worked tirelessly in earthquake in 2008, and working at a huge level in education sector, providing state of the art medical facilities, running orphan houses. Now they are representing the whole country by giving million dollars worth aid to the people whom are very close to our hearts, as we have witnessed how the Arab countries from Middle East and North Africa are just playing in the hands of zionists of Israel, USA & Europe and even they cannot provide any aid to these poor people, whom are giving sacrifices for their homeland which is a very sacred place for the whole muslim world. Israel whom have proven record of working on a genocidal plan in which whole of euro-union, USA & UNO are partners in crime against humanity, even USA is providing weapons to Israel, as the war prolongs it directly benefits the ammunition industry of USA. Now the wars in #ukrain and in #gazastrip are generating huge revenues for USA mega amuntion industries. Although Israel and USA are deeply interested in the latest & biggest found oil & gas reserves of the region which are discovered inside the Gaza Strip and USA has announced to create an aid corridor port in Gaza and pretends to provide aid to people in Gaza, #china has also decided first time in recent past to be the part of crisis & announced their special representative for Middle East, which shows the struggle amongst regional and international powers to get the control of the reserves.
