Today, the 20th November, is Trans Day of Remembrance, where we honour the lives stolen by transphobia and anti-trans violence. To mark the start of Trans Awareness Week 2024, TGEU — Trans Europe and Central Asia released the annual update of their Trans Murder Monitoring project. The numbers are horrifying: · Over 5,000 trans lives taken since the project began in 2008. · 350 trans and gender diverse people murdered in the past year alone – a heartbreaking rise. · 94% of victims were trans women or transfeminine individuals. · 93% of victims were people of colour. The figures barely scratch the surface of the true reality, as many cases remain either unreported or incorrectly reported due to misgendering. One thing is painfully clear: violence against the trans community is not subsiding. For full details of the report, follow the link below. A particularly upsetting statistic for me is that 93% of victims were people of colour, with nearly three-quarters of the reported murders being committed in Latin America and the Caribbean. I would urge everyone to take some time today to consider the challenges faced by the trans community, and learn about the work being done by InterEngineering, EqualEngineers, and many others. More importantly, reflect on what you can do to support and stand in solidarity with trans people, and trans people of colour in particular. #TransDayOfRemembrance #TransRights #InclusionMatters #InterEngineering

🌏International Men's Day (IMD) is a global awareness day for many issues that men face, including parental alienation, abuse, homelessness, suicide, and violence, celebrated annually on November 19. The objectives of celebrating an International Men's Day are set out in 'All the Six Pillars of International Men's Day'. It is also an occasion to celebrate boys' and men's lives, achievements and contributions, in particular for their contributions to nation, union, society, community, family, marriage, and childcare. International Men's Day objectives are given as: 1. To promote positive male role models; not just movie stars and sports men but everyday, working-class men who are living decent, honest lives. 2. To celebrate men's positive contributions to society, community, family, marriage, child care, and the environment. 3. To focus on men's health and wellbeing: social, emotional, physical, and spiritual. 4. To highlight discrimination against men in areas of social services, social attitudes and expectations, and law. 5. To improve gender relations and promote gender equality. 6. To create a safer, better world, where people can be safe and grow to reach their full potential. #international #man #day #internationalmensday #sujoktherapistuk07 #onenesssujoktherapycentre

Addressing Gender-based violence (GBV) is a shared responsibility that requires the active involvement of all individuals, regardless of their gender. While much focus has been placed on supporting survivors and empowering women and girls, it is equally important to engage men and boys as allies in the fight for safety and equality. #awainitiative #16DaysOfActivism #TobeAsewo #IfNaYouWetinYouGoDo #WhatIfItWereYou #EndPreventableDeaths #IfNotNowWhen #CompassionOverJudgement #Compassion #HealthcareAccess #Ajose

Every 10 minutes, partners and family members killed a woman intentionally in 2023. 🧡 Today, on the #InternationalDayfortheEliminationofViolenceAgainstWomen, we are proud to join the international community to draw attention to this escalating human rights violation. We are here to make a stand, promote advocacy, demand accountability and call for an end to the cycle of gender-based violence. ✋ This is why the slogan for this year’s internal campaign to #EndViolenceAgainstWomen at Tenova is “Raise a Hand – Make a Stand”. Employees have been encouraged to make personalized red handprints to symbolize their commitment and raise awareness. “For decades, the fight against gender-based violence has been led by women’s rights movements, but this is not an issue that women alone should be burdened with solving. Men have an important role to play and must hold each other to account. This is a human rights issue that is about achieving equality, development and peace. For us at Tenova, it means ensuring a safe environment for all our employees. Above all, it means fostering a culture of inclusiveness rooted in respect and equality,” commented Roberto Pancaldi, Tenova CEO. Let’s unite to end violence against women 👉 https://lnkd.in/diSce8MB #NoExcuse #16Days

TODAY IS THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD The 2024 International Day of the Girl theme “Girls’ vision for the future” marks an important moment to reinforce the need to respect the rights of girls around the world. On this significant day, the Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons (PFSALW) reinforces urgency to consistently apply a gender sensitive approach and include the experiences of girls in all discussions related to peace and security. Today’s generation of girls is disproportionately affected by global crises such as climate change, conflict, poverty and pushback on hard won gains for human rights and gender equality. Additionally, girls are particularly vulnerable to the negative effects of the uncontrolled flow of SALW and its related violence. With 85% of the world’s firearms in the hands of civilians, according to the Small Arms Survey, girls are constantly exposed to conflicts, gender-based, and armed violence worldwide. PFSALW finds it crucial to support and strengthen the active participation and inclusion of girls in decision-making processes. Girls are powerful and important drivers of impact and must be included in the work for global sustainable development, including the prevention of uncontrolled SALW proliferation. By advocating for parliamentary action, PFSALW calls for strengthening the implementation of relevant international frameworks aiming at reducing the illicit flow of SALW, as to underpin solutions that will accelerate progress towards a more peaceful future in which every girl can live free from harm and fulfil her potential.
