🚢 Enhancing LH2CRAFT's Development Strategy with a Comprehensive QFD Study 🚢 💼 As part of the LH2CRAFT consortium's efforts to ensure key functional features that meet customer requirements, a comprehensive Quality Function Deployment (#QFD) study was conducted under Task 2.6 (#KPIs, #Assessment Metrics, and QFD Method for Evaluating the Demonstrator) led by TWI. 📊 The study identified 7 critical features, including: 🔹 Health & Safety 🔒 🔹Material Selection 🏗️ 🔹System Integration ⚙️ 🔹Environmental Sustainability 🌿 🔹Cargo Pressure & Temperature Control 🌡️ 🔹Efficient Design 💡 🔹Vent System Control 🛠️ 🎯Using the House of Quality (#HoQ) tool and input from diverse #stakeholders, including #classificationsocieties, #shipbuilders, #academics, and #shipping companies, the study helped prioritize features based on technical importance and implementation difficulty. World Engineering Day Hackathon: Building a Brighter Future for Refugees Just wrapped up an inspiring experience at the World Engineering Day Hackathon! Our team tackled the critical challenge of designing eco-friendly refugee camps. We delved into solutions that could revolutionize these temporary settlements: Harnessing the Sun's Power: We explored the feasibility of integrating solar panels and other renewable energy sources to provide clean and reliable electricity. Imagine empowering refugees with the ability to charge phones, light their homes, and even access basic appliances. Turning Scarcity into Abundance: Water access is a major hurdle in refugee camps. We brainstormed innovative technological solutions for water purification, ensuring a constant supply of clean water for drinking, sanitation, and hygiene. Building Green, Living Green: Sustainability was a core focus. We explored ways to utilize eco-friendly materials and construction methods to minimize the environmental impact of these camps. This could involve prefabricated shelters, recycled materials, and even incorporating green spaces for mental well-being. ♻️ The hackathon was a whirlwind of collaboration. Engineering students from diverse backgrounds brought their unique perspectives to the table. Witnessing the passion and creativity of fellow participants was truly inspiring! This experience reaffirmed the power of engineering for good. In 2023, Scottish Powerlifting made some big commitments to our membership base. Recognising that our future success would depend not on our ability to do what we have always done well, but on the courage to innovate, to do more than is expected of us and to push for what seems to be out of reach. What we had not anticipated was just how much we could drive that ambition forward in just one year. From the significant elevation of our competition standards, to the introduction of a flagship coaching development programme and a record representation at international level, 2024 has totally surpassed any reasonable expectation of an organisation of our size and scale. What we reflect on most proudly however, is the overwhelming culture of support, team spirit, collaboration and involvement that has absolutely shone through this year. We see it everywhere – from new lifters coming to compete for the first time, nervous and full of trepidation and leaving with a sense of belonging, to volunteers going over and above time and again to make sure that events are brilliant and that our lifters have the best experience possible. As we wrap up 2024 with a clean sweep of success at this year’s Home Nations Championship in front of a home crowd in Glasgow, we’re already planning for an even bigger 2025 - and we can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.

Canada has to protect its #ZEV industry but simply waiting to see where the political crosswinds push us won't be a winning industrial approach. We also have to be proactive. In Accelerate-Accélérer's national consultation on getting #MoreCanada in what we drive in North America, we're asking industry, labour, Indigenous interests, researchers and other stakeholders their views on what goals Canada's #ZEV sector should pursue when #CUSMA comes up for review in 2026. Answer some or all of the questions and inform what a successful approach for Canada looks like.
