There was an interesting article at MorningNewsBeat today: Grocers growing exploitation of shrimp farmers - https://lnkd.in/g7HnTSrG This topic is also explored (among many others) in Benjamin Lorr's excellent book 'The Secret Life of Groceries: The Dark Miracle of American Supermarkets'. This book, which I recommend anyone in the industry reads, provides a thought-provoking, many times confronting view into a supply chain where unarguably more humane choices could be made. The issues are reinforced by the silos which make up the supply chain. Yet arguably we as consumers don't give much latitude to the commercial entities which are retailers/distributors/suppliers for improvement, with our ongoing requirement for groceries to be as affordable as is humanly possible. There is an argument that we could all positively impact many people's lives by reframing this requirement to 'as affordable as is humanely possible'. I am not sure how you actually do that, but it feels like a problem worth solving.
