Discover the Power of Transparency for the Energy Transition with Guarantees of Origin! 🌱 At EEX, we are convinced that traceability and transparency are key to accelerating the transition to renewable energy. That's why we're excited to highlight EEX’s registry activities for Guarantees of Origin (GOs), designed to make the use of renewable energy more transparent and traceable. Registries for GOs are standardised systems that allow end consumers to know the exact source of their energy. In 2023, EEX was selected to provide registry services for biogas certificates in France on behalf of the French Ministry in charge of energy issues. Find out more in our latest annual report on biogas GOs: 📈 Volume of French biogas GOs issued in 2023: 7,907,571 GOs (+18% in comparison to 2022) 🌟 Almost all (95%) biogas installations were registered on the French registry end of 2023 📊 >50% of GOs were used in the heating sector (residential sector and process heat for the industry) 📝 Past and upcoming regulatory developments Join us in supporting the energy transition and discover the value of transparency in renewable energy sourcing. Could this be the solution Europe has been searching for in its energy transition? ♻️♻️ Europe has been making significant strides in biogas production as part of its renewable energy goals. In 2023, the biogas industry in the EU generated around 18 billion cubic meters of biogas, covering 4.6% of the region's total gas demand. With continued investments, this share is expected to reach 10% by 2030, according to industry forecasts. Germany remains the largest producer, contributing to nearly 50% of Europe’s biogas output, while France and Italy have increased their capacities by 15% and 12%, respectively, over the past year. The European Biogas Association (EBA) also reported that the biogas sector could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 10% by 2030. Biogas isn’t just about energy – it’s a sustainable solution for waste management and contributes to the EU's goal of achieving a 55% reduction in emissions by 2030. How do you see biogas shaping the future of clean energy in Europe? #Biogas #RenewableEnergy #EnergyEfficiency #Sustainability #CircularEconomy

🔦 Spotlight: Biogas in Poland! TotalEnergies has a renewable energy footprint in Poland through the acquisition of Polska Grupa Biogazowa (PGB) in March 2023. This acquisition strengthens our commitment to the energy transition and our goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. 💼 PGB is Poland’s #1 biogas producer, with a 15% market share and 21 MW of installed electric capacity. ⚡ PGB operates 20 biogas plants across #Poland, producing approximately: 183 GWh of electricity annually 184 GWh of heat annually Equivalent to ~0.46 TWh in biomethane! 💡 And there is more! 6 PGB #biogas units are equipped with PV installations, totaling ~2.2 MW in capacity. And 16 of them are offering wood drying services by using the heat generated from the CHP process of the plants. 👷♂️ Our team of over 180 dedicated employees works across nine regions, supporting sustainable energy production in local communities. #TotalEnergies #Biogas #RenewableEnergy

Happy Friday, Network! I’ve recently had some insightful conversations with energy clients, and a recurring topic has been Biogas and Biomethane. 🌱 It’s clear that more companies are exploring these renewable energy sources as part of their sustainability goals. Clients are asking questions like: How does biogas compare to traditional natural gas in terms of cost and efficiency? What role can biomethane play in reducing carbon emissions across industries? How can the regulatory landscape impact future investments in these areas? These are just a few of the questions coming up as the energy landscape continues to evolve. I'm curious to hear from others in the industry: What trends are you seeing? What are your thoughts on the future of biogas and biomethane in the energy mix? Let’s keep the conversation going! 💬 #Energy #Biogas #Biomethane #Renewables #Sustainability #FridayThoughts #ICIS
