Today, I had the pleasure of speaking with a group of new developers, all eager to jumpstart their careers in tech! 🎉 Stim hosted a breakfast seminar where I got to share some tips and tricks for landing that first dev job, and it turned out to be a fantastic session. We had lots of engaging discussions, thoughtful questions, and shared insights that got everyone excited about the journey ahead. We talked about: - The unfair advantage of spending time on side projects; especially as newly graduated developers but really throughout your entire career. - Understanding that junior developers are not bringing skills to the table but their future potential. - The importance and how-to of quickly helping the recruiting manager understand that you're a safe bet. - How to network without feeling like a sleazeball and how powerful that will be for your longterm career. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and brought such great energy to the event! I can’t wait to see where these promising developers go from here! 🚀

First-generation college students are much more likely to work longer hours and much less likely to secure career-boosting internships. These are BIG challenges. Bridging the gap between theory and practice is perhaps the most important problem to solve in design education. A lot of design knowledge is tacit - it's not easily captured in books or presentations. The best way to learn and develop intuition is by working on real-world problems in context, while being supported by feedback and mentorship. This is why industry projects are a main feature of our Product Design Fellowship at ownpath, and it's no wonder Fellows love this aspect about the program. So, what happens at an industry project? Fellows get to 👉🏼 develop domain knowledge, learn about what worked and what didn't 👉🏼 learn to work in quick iterations and tight feedback loops with a design team 👉🏼 understand real constraints & tradeoffs: wildly different from theoretical case-studies Looking forward to collaborating with Last9 Inc, where Fellows at ownpath will gain first-rate exposure to challenges and constraints that a team helping serve millions of users faces on a day-to-day. 🚀 Big thanks to Sahil Khan (and previously Nav Pawera and Saloni Bhandari from Jiva and Sanket Pathak from Postman) for collaborating with us on industry projects. 🙌 #designeducation

This is a great opportunity for computer science students! “Accessibility is not just a feature; it’s a fundamental right!” Tech is better when accessibility is part of the initial design rather than features being added as a second thougtht. We can only get there by educating students early on.

I know this kind of post might seem unusual for LinkedIn, but I've been eagerly waiting for this moment to share my experiences from the last year of the preparatory cycle. This academic season has been the hardest I've ever faced, both mentally and physically exhausting. The season began on a high note. I was named the MVP of Survision and presented it to investors. As the president of ByteCraft club, I worked tirelessly to implement my plans, from integrating new members and teaching them hard and soft skills, to hosting major conferences and organizing the first-ever national hackathon in Bejaia. Words can't express how proud I was. Everything was going well until exam time. I went into the exams confident of scoring a 16 in the module, only to finish the exam hoping I wouldn't get the minimum passing grade. Unfortunately, I failed the semester. That's when the real challenge began. I had to study harder than ever to secure a spot among the top 160 in the third year. If not, I would need to make a significant comeback to achieve an annual average of +10. if so I would have to study 10 modules from the entire preparatory cycle in 10 days, then take the concours and rank in the top 40. If not, I would be sent to university. The mental pressure to achieve this was immense, surpassing even the physical effort. From February 2024 to the end of June, after not initially making it into the top 160 and studying all those modules, I finally succeeded in the concours. Handling that pressure and emerging victorious has been my greatest achievement. Alhamdulillah. Balancing extensive extracurricular activities, making an impact in the computer science field, and working on a startup without failing my studies is the biggest accomplishment of my life. Alhamdulillah.
