Rich Hanowski recently organized and moderated a panel on motorcycle safety in ASEAN countries during the 5th International Road Federation (IRF Global) Asia-Pacific Regional Congress & 12th Malaysian Road Conference & Exhibition 2024 in Malaysia. Other panelists included co-leads from a study Rich is leading on motorcycle fatalities—Al-Baraa Abdulrahman Al-Mekhlafi, NGUYEN Dinh Vinh Man, Maya Arlini Puspasari, and Saiprasit Koetniyom. They discussed motorcycle safety in their countries and how they hope to reduce fatalities (motorcycles account for over 70% of traffic-related deaths in these countries) using the Motorcycle Collision-Alert and Management System. THAIFEX – Anuga Asia 2024 was an astounding triumph, breaking attendance records and exceeding all expectations! With 85,850 visitors from 131 countries/regions, we witnessed a significant leap from last year’s 78,764. Even more impressive, we saw a 22% surge in international visitors! The global allure of THAIFEX – Anuga Asia was evident this year from 3,133 exhibitors from 52 countries/regions showcasing the latest innovations in the F&B industry. Outstandingly, 2,034 of these exhibitors were international, and with international pavilions expanding their presence, the total international exhibition space saw a notable 12% increase from last year!

Songkhla province is rapidly establishing itself as a significant international exhibition hub in Thailand. Several factors contribute to this growth, including modern infrastructure, supportive investment policies, and a robust local industrial base.   A online seminar hosted by the Thai Exhibition Association on 30 September, 2024highlighted Songkhla's readiness to host world-class events. Mr. Amnuay Pinsuwan, Deputy Governor of Songkhla, emphasized the province's capabilities as a MICE destination, outlining opportunities for exhibitions, MICE activities, and tourism packages.   On October 3rd, a familiarization tour to showcase key venues in Songkhla, including Hat Yai Hall @ Central Hat Yai, Prince of Songkla University Science Park (PSUSP), the International Convention Center Hat Yai (ICCH), and the Old Town. These visits highlighted the diversity and capacity of the province's event spaces.   A workshop titled "Enhance Local Exhibition to Global" was held on October 4th at the International Convention Center Hat Yai (ICCH). Experts shared insights on elevating local exhibitions to an international standard. Participants were divided into groups to brainstorm ideas for events such as World HAPEX, SITE: Southern Innovation & Technology Expo, and Healthy Living & Innovation Expo.   Hosting exhibitions in Songkhla not only to boost the local economy but also creates business opportunities and enhances the province's international reputation.
