On #iwd2024 let's talk more about breaking gender stereotypes that impact women and girl's participation and enjoyment of sport and physical activity. I love this campaign from Women in Sport. It highlights the fact that gender stereotypes impact children as young as 5 years old. We are not born with a particular view of movement... it's created and developed. We can positively influence someone's relationship with movement and help give them a better chance to live an active life. #representationmatters #equalitydiversityinclusion #earlyyears #physicalliteracy #genderstereotypes https://lnkd.in/e_YS_CXQ

Raising Boys to Respect and Protect: Nurturing Sensitivity Towards Women Raising a son who respects women is not just about teaching right from wrong—it’s about nurturing a deep sense of empathy and understanding. From the earliest moments, boys need to see that women are equal partners in every aspect of life, deserving of the same respect, freedom, and care. This begins in the home, where they witness how their parents treat each other -with kindness, fairness, and love. It’s crucial to teach boys about consent, boundaries, and the importance of respecting the feelings of others. Let them know that expressing emotions isn’t a weakness but a strength, helping them to grow into men who understand and value the emotions of those around them. As parents, we must also help our sons navigate the media landscape, guiding them to challenge harmful stereotypes and seek out positive representations of women. Schools and communities play a vital role, too, in fostering gender sensitivity and encouraging boys to stand up against behaviors that diminish or harm women. By instilling these values, we are raising a generation of men who will not only respect women but will also be allies in the fight against violence and discrimination. Empathy, respect, and understanding start at home, shaping our boys into men who honor and protect the dignity of every woman—ensuring that heartbreaking events like those of #Nirbhaya and #Abhaya are never repeated. #RespectWomen #RaiseBoysRight #GenderEquality #EndViolence #TeachEmpathy #StopRapeCulture #ConsentMatters #Empowerment #RespectAndProtect #SafeSociety

International Day of the Girl Child: Empowering Voices, Securing Futures Today, we celebrate this day, known as the International Day of the Girl Child- a reminder that each girl in every corner of our world possesses a potential beyond limits. This day brings to light the challenges that girls face, but more importantly, it raises their voices and rights to equal opportunities. Girls are powerful agents of change. When equipped with education, healthcare, and protection from discrimination, they can break the cycle of poverty and lead innovation to build more resilient communities. Still, too many girls suffer barriers to fundamental rights, including child marriage, other forms of gender-based violence, and a lack of opportunities in education. Our collective responsibility is to stand up for every girl so she can dream freely, grow with support, and thrive with resources. Let's champion policies and initiatives that provide girls with safe spaces, quality education, and leadership opportunities. We are investing not just in their future but in that of humanity. Let us, on this day, re-dedicate ourselves to a world where every girl gets an opportunity to shine. We can jointly create a world of equality, inclusion, and empowerment for each girl child. #DayOfTheGirl #GirlPower #EmpowerGirls #EducationForAll

Today as we celebrate international women's day, KEF acknowledges the impact education has on a girl's life. In many communities, being in school delays child marriage, prevents FGM and improves their quality of life. We celebrate everyone who makes it possible for girls to attain education across the world. It allows them to dream big and accelerate progress. #impact #internationalwomensday2024 #internationalwomensday

Why I personally hate girl empowerment program? Because there is no need for them. At a family level, girls and boys are both family kids. There is no need for special programs for a baby girl. Just make program for family members. There is no need to have special girls' program at village, ward, district, regional, nation or even international level. Why? Because each nation should make programs that accommodates girls and boys. While boys went to Mazengo High School, Girls went to Msalato Girls. and such are Many examples in our country, which ought to be possible everywhere. Again put program for all citizens. No need to segregate based on gender! Now if a family is mistreating girls or deny them basic rights like school, punish them and then let the girl go to school. Remember while girls were kept home men also were sent to the bushes to tender for cows and goats! TL;DR: No need anywhere for special girls/women programs. Nations should put resources for all citizens and programs for all. Shout out to all who make programs to empower citizens, regadless of their gender!

Persistent areas of male disadvantage have been largely ignored by the mainstream media. This November, the International Council will be holding the first-ever Men's Equality Month. The highlight of the observance will be International Men's Day on November 19.
