Each #TEDx event operates under a license from #TED but is organized locally to celebrate unique ideas and voices. Speakers include: 1. As the year comes to a close, I’m filled with gratitude and reflection. Over seven years ago, as a new immigrant navigating the art world of this continent, I started ODBK with a vision: to challenge the elitism of the art market and create an inclusive, transparent, and equitable space for all. What began as a passion project has grown into a global movement. Today, ODBK stands strong and growing, with more than 12 incredible volunteers contributing their time and expertise to help drive this mission forward. It hasn’t been easy—starting an NGO from scratch while catching up with the practices and pace of a new art world. But we’ve persisted, and that persistence has paid off. Through years of research, documentation, and collaboration, we’ve developed DEI-focused (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) practices that are ready to serve wider communities. With these tools, such as the Pure Taste Indicator (PTI) and the Art Market Regulation Commission (AMARC), we aim to make fairness and accessibility central to the art world. And now, we’re taking the next big step: investing in a fundraising strategy to take this mission to new heights. It’s an exciting and humbling moment for ODBK as we prepare to expand our reach and amplify our impact.
