🚨 NEW PUBLICATION ALERT 🚨 As part of our continuous efforts to highlight the role of #communication in driving #MigrationCapacityPartnerships, we released a new study by James Dennison in cooperation with European University Institute Migration Policy Centre's Observatory on Public Attitudes to Migration (OPAM) titled: 🟡 Communication and Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration 🟡 🔍 Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programmes have emerged as a migration governance tool used by many national governments and supranational organisations in the 21st century. However, AVRR programmes have received several criticisms from academics and activists. The academic literature on measuring reintegration, identifying the causes of reintegration success, and identifying the causes of AVRR participation are nascent but provide a basis by which policymakers can understand how to improve AVRR outcomes. Dive into this study to identify how communication contributes to AVRR objectives. Download the full publication in English, French, and Arabic here: https://lnkd.in/dzDEZFQ

#NelsonMandela would be rolling in his grave to see how Politics and $ fouls the Rule of Law. Www.ISGAP.org Report: THE HIGHJACKING OF THE ANC AND THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE by Iran and the Qatar based #MuslimBrotherhood extremist group. “The report focuses on the nature of South Africa’s strategic ties with Iran, #Qatar, and #Hamas, as well as the problematic political and financial backing of the country’s ICJ case by Iran, Qatar, and political entities such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Given the obstacles the South African government faced in bringing such a complex legal case, this report examines the anti-democratic and terror organizations that the #SouthAfrican government partnered with in order to advance this anti-Israel and overtly antisemitic project. A case study examining the members and advisors of South Africa’s legal team at the #ICJ provides additional insight into the bias, antisemitism, and even terrorist sympathies of the individuals and entities involved, including Law for Palestine (L4P) and Shawan Jabarin. In addition, the report examines the expansion and influence of radical Islamism in South Africa and their close relations with the #ANC today. All this demonstrates the extent to which the South African government has discredited itself through political and financial corruption, thus proving that it is in no position to act as an agent of justice at the ICJ.” https://lnkd.in/gE6GDXqx

acting COP, DCOP. Governance Expert I International Development I Public Policy and Administration I Senior Leadership I Commited to solving wicked problems in strategy, leadership, and implementation
Tomorrow, I will be headlining the second edition of the Community Initiative for Enhanced Peace and Development (CIEPD) PEACE BUILDING SERIES as lead discussant. Our focus will be on reviewing President Tinubu's #Endbadgovernance speech through the lens of peace and conflict sensitivity. According to CIEPD: "The analysis of President Tinubu's speech through a peace and conflict sensitivity lens allows us to gauge its potential impact on national unity and stability. A speech that emphasizes inclusivity, addresses grievances, promotes dialogue, and outlines concrete steps for peace can contribute positively to conflict resolution and social cohesion. Conversely, rhetoric that fosters division or ignores the complexities of societal dynamics may exacerbate tensions and conflict." It promises to be interesting and insightful, and scheduled as follows: Date:13th August 2024 Time: 3:00 PM-4: 30 PM WAT Venue: Google Meet. Click the link below to register- https://bit.ly/4fDmrGa Attendance and participation are free, and I look forward to a very healthy conversation for the common good. The conversation is to be moderated by CIEPD's Founder/Executive Director Egondu Esinwoke REGISTRATION GIVES ACCESS TO THE DISCUSSION KIT!

It turned out to be a good day. Our special issue, "Faces of Precarity: Restructuring Care-mentality", came out today in Asia's leading and oldest journal (in English studies), SARE (Q2 ranked journal). I also have a paper on "Foodocracy and the Politics of Radical Care in The Black Soil." Here is the link to this special issue: https://lnkd.in/gxMRBCtj #universities #sdg #humanities

In June, Project dldl/ድልድል held its #annual #conference on #Domestic #Violence, #Religion and #Migration that brought together a #diversity of stakeholders and actors working to respond to domestic violence and abuse in #ethnic #minority and #migrant #faith #communities. Watch the highlights below: https://lnkd.in/ew5QXqvP Perhaps for the first time, religious scholars and theologians, policy makers and domestic violence service providers, including numerous 'by and for' initiatives in the UK, were brought together in the same room to explore concrete steps towards #improving #religious and #cultural #sensitivity and #competency in the #DVA sector in the UK, incorporating also evidence, lessons and good practices from #Ethiopia and #SouthAfrica. The conference resulted in a #Roadmap brief for domestic violence service providers that can be accessed here: https://lnkd.in/e75FYXdZ To continue the conversations, share new evidence and inform future practice and policy, we have set up a #CommunityofPractice email #list that anyone working in these areas is invited to join. If you'd like to subscribe, please reply to this post or write to Dr Romina Istratii at ri5@soas.ac.uk to be added. We welcome insights from anyone with lived experience in domestic violence, religion and migration. #projectdldl #annualconference #domesticviolence #religion #migration #communityofpractice #list #collectivaction #evidecebuilding #subscribe
