Science communication is evolving all the time. In Ceridwyn Roberts' recent webinar, she showed a diagram created and designed by Jo Bailey that shows science communication models and phases over time. It's heartening to know that most scientists understand that, even though the science is clear it doesn't mean people will act on it. Lots of researchers in Aotearoa are really getting behind two-way and multi-directional translation between science and all its varied users, so that everyone can participate, engage and hopefully change the world! You can watch Ceridwyn's webinar at https://lnkd.in/gdkTAAzd.

Scientific #innovation is crucial in addressing global challenges such as global warming and food shortages. And to make the best use of the expertise, brilliant minds and ideas across organizations, research collaborations are essential to achieve scientific discoveries. 🔬 However, some view scientific partnerships, particularly between the public and private sector, with a degree of skepticism. In order to strengthen trust in #science, we at Bayer set up a public transparency register, the Bayer Science Collaboration Explorer, to provide #transparency about our science partnerships with universities, public research institutions, and individuals. 📨 Over 1750 European scientists and 35 scientific organisations have issued an Open Letter to the EU institutions on the future of the Green Deal. Scientists expressed their concern at what they perceive as a systemic rollback of the Union’s environmental policies and targets. They call on the EU institutions and the Member States to align policies with the science of planetary boundaries, recognising Europe’s global responsibility in addressing climate and biodiversity crises. They ask the policymakers to prioritise sustainability over short-term gains, as the true basis for competitiveness and economic growth. The large scientific community behind WildPosh echoes the need to restore the Green Deal. If you haven't read the Open Letter yet, you can find it attached to the post and on the following link: https://lnkd.in/dHVpYUAc Researchers can still support the Open Letter here: https://lnkd.in/dMsUYiqu Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) BioAgora Project TRANSPATH Project
